This will mess up your Holiday

It's beyond me how someone with a relatively new boat that's undoubtedly equipped with relatively new electronics can run aground.

If you are boating on the South shore of Long Island, you would find out how easy it is. I don't care what kind of electronics you have . Channels shoal every year, buoys are moved etc. That river is probably much different, but where I am from everybody has a bout with low water at least once.

No, that's a pretty bad mistake that was easily avoidable. Been through there a few times. The area is a major shipping channel that is extremely well marked with charts that are very accurate. The shoal is pretty obvious:

Hopefully I am allowed to post this snip from navionics.com.

I take it back.... that's pretty bad; I am talking about 100 foot wide channels with 6ft of water at high tide... those are like ocean depths compared water ways by me, oh well.

And those depths are meters, not feet!

Im with Scott. ou take ur boat out in thw winter follow the same path back do ur dock and running aground. all the storms during the winter moves all the sand around. Im at the point where I leave the 5 mph zone and still cant take off. my boat tries to lift off and all black stuff comes shutting up. I have to go another 100 yards till I hit the main marker
