So we have only had the boat out twice this year. Stopped down the marina late last night and the water looked great. Made plans to go out today. Stopped and bought snacks, filled the cooler with ice. My mother and step-father have a pontoon a few marinas upriver and they haven't been out yet this year. We had planned on rafting up with them today. Got to the marina about noon and the water was very murky looking and the current a little quick. Apparently it rained north of us overnight and by morning the remnants made it to us. Made the decision to stay at the dock again. Mother and step-father ended up coming to our boat and we hung out there. After a little while it started getting warm in the cabin. I look and nothing coming out of the thru-hull. Turn the AC off and pull the filter and it's plugged with mud...ugh. Cleaned that and got it flowing again but turned it off to prevent anything else from happening.

On to more stuff...lol. There are 3 boats identical to mine at our marina. One of them went out last night and whacked their outdrive with a big tree in the water. He had to be towed back in. Its a BIII so not cheap and he just had the outdrive installed this spring. Not sure if it was brand new or used but still. And last year he had the engine replaced. And he has only had it for 3 years. Yikes.

So as we were leaving the marina today the owner was telling us that a boat at a marina upriver had their outdrive ripped off today while sitting at the dock from a giant tree floating downriver. He said it broke the 'ears' at the pivot. The boat was sitting at the dock not running. He said the current was about 7 MPH.

Really hoping this weather changes. My step-son bought a 1973 MFG Gypsy tri-hull to use for fishing a couple months ago. He just replaced the 9.9 with a 40 HP Evinrude and wants to get it out to try it. I told him the river is too bad to bring it out so he called a local lake and they said they are 7' over normal levels but they are still putting boats in. So his plan is to go there tomorrow to test it out. That lake eventually runs into out river so sounds like we should be expecting more of this.

I guess the positive is we are saving money on fuel
