4.3 engines..
I have a 1998 sundancer when I bought it the front bimini was fine I had it trucked over the marina guy said I had a torn when he turned it up but wasn't sure what it was just inform me of it. I figure all the snow we had this winter nothing I could do but call to check on it. I called a couple of places here in new jersey the guy wants $2000 to $2500 :wow: is this right?I hate to ask what would the hole canvas cost!! I have the frame just need fabric......

$2500 !!!! Yikes!

Contact Sunbrella (the likely manufacturer) or have a local canvas guy make you one. If you are referring to the front half of the bimini its only about 3 feet long. The stuff aint cheap but I would think 2500 is out of line.

has any of you canvas tags surrived ?? If so that is all you need to contact Great Lakes Boat. They will have what you need. I checked on a replacement for my 280DA and it was $350.00

canvas tags??? what are they??

great lakes sounds awesome but what happends when I get it and it won't fit??? then what..

Great Lakes did an excellent job for me... I just sent them my hull number/boat details and they made up a complete new canvas set exactly as the originals. Only bits I had to fit myself were the snaps (or whatever they're called) for the rear cover - so they lined up with where the opposite snaps were installed on the boat.

They were also very helpful on the phone/on e-mail and delivered to me here in the UK quickly.

Overall - very pleased!

Steriltech,
I am not sure what type of boat you have as your signature is lacking in detail. I have a 1997 330 and had my sunshades (front & rear) done by a local canvas guy, who is also a friend of mine, last year along with all of my eisenglass. The total cost was $2700.00 installed. He reused my frame and used the sunbrella with the rubber coating underneath, I forget what it is called but it was more expensive than the basic sunbrella. I used that material because that was the direct replacement of the original material. Your price for just a bimini sounds high. I would suggest you shop around a little more. Todd

does this look like a $2500 repair? http:// asking for pic??? I put a pic before now I'm having trouble .....

Ok guys just got a qoute from a shop here is what they said"tony, your looking about $ 650.00 for the top. I ask dose this inclued the windows her said"NO,,Thats only the top...your 3 front window panels would be between $3-350.00 EACH,u-zips are extra... that is like $1600 just foe the front :smt101 I can buy a used car for that I just need new plastics these people charge what they want cause they can..

I got all new canvas for both my boats last year from Great Lakes, and a got a great deal... They gave CSR members 20% off... It was less than half the price of my local canvas shop... They fit perfectly...

I just got a whole new upper enclosure because the old one was shot.

I HIGHLY recommend you call Lippencott Marine. They are in NJ and do a lot of custom tops for dealers new boats. They did a fantastic job on my boat. I am very pleased.

Don't go cheap. When craftmanship is involved, you get what you pay for.

What Choo talkin 'bout willis??

Thats why I live out in cow country :smt001 .
You city slickers can keep them high prices.
I was quoted $ 1.800 bucks for a full camper canvas.

Great Lakes is a great resource for canvas. I have a 25' Express Cruiser and just replaced all of the 16 year old canvas on the boat. Bimini top, driver side curtains, aft side curtains, camper top, back camper window, and two boots for a little over $1,300. This was with 20% off which might be over by now. I was getting quotes from upholstery places around Olympia, WA for $2,800-3,800.

One thing to keep in mind is that you either have to pay somebody to install the canvas or do it yourself. I was able to do it myself and I'm FAR from being Mr. Handyman. I bought their special snap tool, reused my existing support beams and called a favor in with a buddy, it took us about five hours to get it all done even with the boat being on the water.

I wouldn't be too worried about it not fitting from Great Lakes. More than likely they made the original canvas and they'll just need a part number off it or your HIN off your boat to make a identical copy of it for you.

Call Great Lakes, they did mine last summer with a 20-30% discount off there usual prices, complete set of canvas and isenglass (yes, everything even new hatch covers) for $1700!!! And always an exact fit.

Yes I called great lakes today they quoted me a great price!! this canvas guys is a rip off! Cain't believe it just cause you have a boat they think they can charge what they want...:smt038 Thanks All.....

Great!

In all fairness Great Lakes has all the paterns allready and the local guy has to make all his own pieces from scratch.... Sorry, that was the small business owner in me! I am still a customer of Great Lakes though...

I just had my front one made by my guy I use on my restorations..

In this photo....

It was $425.... I though that was too high!
