Our garages seem to end up in a bunch of the photos we post. Mine, though small, old, crappy looking, is pretty cool. It's the original 1920s probably for a Model A car. It is solid, well built, original metal, 2 X 4s, 2 X 6s and had a dirt floor when I bout the house 13 years ago. I was planning to tear it down and build a larger, new one. ALL of the contractors who looked at it said keep it, they are no longer built this way, restore/remodel it; so I did.
I removed dirt/chunks of old concrete from what looked like bags of concrete, in prep for a new concrete floor, which was poured. I tore out the old barn like doors and had a garage door (manual at first) installed. I painted the exterior and put metal paint on the roof. Then I had an electrician run wire from the house to the garage, and put 2 receptacles in, one for the garage door, and one overhead light. Foam pool noodles were tacked onto the studs to keep the car doors from hitting them. Oh, and then I had a custom 8 x 10 shed built for all the stuff that was in there.
That was about 6 years ago. I paid an electrician this weekend to add another receptacle and a LED overhead light. It's small yes, but she fits in there Note, that is NOT what she said...
She also ain't winning no beauty pageants, but she is reliable and ain't going nowhere
