I know this is no big deal to all you northerners but hey this is the south and our lakes do not usually freeze but this is what we saw when we were out today. It's been really cold here for quite awhile and today is the first time in about a month we were actually able to get out on the water. The ice was confined mainly to coves but in the last nine years I have never seen ice on our lakes. Average daytime temps are usually 50 in December and early January but not this year.

This is the first time I can remember that our whole lake (Lake Chatuge) has frozen over.

HA HA its a hot 33*f here after the deep freeze we just had.. I went and washed the car in my boating shorts. :smt043. :smt043

We actually had 2 kids drown falling through the ice on a lake in Gwinnett I believe. Most of the smaller ponds were frozen around here too as was our beautiful drained lake Allatoona. We usually dont get that long of a snap below freezing!

It finally warmed up to 30 f. up here in mn.sure beats the -15 we had last week

We have had 13 days in a row with temps falling below freezing (mostly at night) and now I see at least 10 days out with no freezing temps. Feels like Spring, and I don't even care if it rains.

Nine straight days here in Knoxville where it didn't get above freezing. Didn't make it to the lake but the pool froze over......which is no big deal if you winterize it...which I did not :wow:

Went out back to warm up the CAT's yesterday, turned on the fishfinder and the water temp in my canal was 41 degrees! Dead mullet floating all over the place. It's NEVER been that cold; never seen it below low 50's. GOM beach water temp was 49- lowest ever recorded. But hey, that's beach weather for you guys from Maine...

Damned if I'm gonna put on my wetsuit and clean the running gear in that s***. Boat's gonna have to sit until the water warms up a bit!

IS IT APRIL YET?!?!

Our lake is about 4-6" thinck with ice and mocking me.

Things are finally turning for us - it's a balmy 52* right now. Went and warmed the boat up on muffs and thankfully the bilge heater and cabin heater did their jobs - no issues so far. Whew!
