This is how you get rid of an invasive species.

They make it seem like everyone who catches a snakehead gets a $200 bass pro card. From what I understand about the program I think that's the top prize and there is a limited quanity of cards. The article also implies a fish "migrated" to the potomac from a "pond" which is B.S. that pond in crofton MD was drained and the snakeheads were removed. The snakeheads in the river were introduced by some a hole who thought it was a good idea. I also heard they are native to northern China not Africa. Everybody says they are so delicious but I won't eat anything out of the Potomac.

I won't eat anything worth $200 at bass pro. The article lacked a lot of fact checking but it would be great if they offered $200 for ever dead one, it mentioned you had to be a resident of MD, which sucks if true. I was planning on dangling a line in the water on my way up to help a little with the fuel bill.

I'm sure next year MD residents will have to pay a snakehead tax to cover the cost of the program. I would NEVER live in MD.

Hell I was thinking of a fishing trip/ semi retirement.
Pike, musky, sauger are all preditor fish up where I was raised and if they where paying a $200.00 per fish bounty well hell pack the boat honey we are going Fishin,At least for this summer.

Asian Carp: Over this past winter I did some warranty work on a snow blower with a 600hp C-18 in it. Engine was wet stacking due to lack of load. Snow blower manufacturer suggested taking it down to the lake to load the engine down real good.

What if they put a $25 bounty on every dead asian carp??? they would be wiped out in a month and it would probably cost less than the government is spending on electric fences. Heck make it $5 per fish, grind those suckers up and use it as fertilizer.

That would work so fast it would make your head hurt, the "government aught to do something" folks are not smart enough to understand the simple magic of a market on anything you want done.

That's what I was thinking. Get the commercial fishermen in there with nets, net everything, buy by ton and give the farmers free fertilizer.

I was just at the Gangplank marina in S.W, D.C. and I watched a guy pull out a huge snakehead. It is larger than most I've seen pictured in local fishing forums. I mentioned the program to the guy but he is a D.C. resident. I suggested he have one of his relatives in MD. turn it in for the $200 gift card and split it with them. It was then a "humaniac" in the gathering crowd demanded he not kill it and just throw it back. An argument insued and the peta guy tried to grab the fish and it bit him. LMAO. Serves him right for trying to steal the guys fish. I wish I had my phone to video that drama but I left it in the car.
