This has been a brutal start to 2019, fellas

Where do you store? My storage is so jammed I can barely get to the boat.

Grand Marina up in Nunica. This is my first year up there. Very cool spot for DIYers. Lots of room between the boats since they really only run two rows of boats along the walls and then fill in between with smaller/trailer boats. Compared to my prior spots at Grand Isle the space is absolutely amazing.

There's no service on-site, it's purely storage. The only slight negative I have is that their travellift is a bit...advanced in age. I cringed a little when she started creaking whilst pulling my boat out. That's why we have insurance though :)

Snowed last night and snow on/off today, total might be near 8" so I'll be plowing at least one more time. I haven't shoveled any roofs yet and they're talking some rain mid week. If it wasn't for the possible rain I'd leave them but all the rain will do is add weight. I guess I'll have to do some shoveling the next couple days....used to be not a big deal but the age factor comes into play more often now.:(

Interesting. I actually stored there for seven years when it was called Grand Valley Marina. Bought my first SR, a new 1979 Express, from them and kept it on a rack there until boating season. I thought access was cut off due to no water in their basin.

I went down today and washed the whole boat, then buffed, polished, and waxed the port side above the rub rail. Was hoping to get more done but my OCD was flaring up big time :). About a quarter of one chore done. Hope to do the rest above the rub rail next weekend, and then the hull at annual haul out over Easter weekend.

Looks great! What polish and wax do you use?

I followed a deer down the driveway for a half a mile yesterday. He didn't want to jump off into the snow. When he finally did he was gone, the snow was deeper than he was tall. He kept struggling and did make it back to the road. We're going to lose some this winter.
That's a bummer. I hunt in Danbury WI as well as the Chequamegon National Forrest up by Washburn.
Now I'm worried about flooding down here in St Paul. Our Marina floods out pretty bad when it gets like this.

Guys, this is a genuine question...

Why do you live in such extreme cold places? .
Sometimes I ask myself the same question Boat Guy.

My wife hates it, but I don't mind it. I do winter activities. You have to get outside and do stuff. Also the 2 weeks of Spring, 3 months Summer and 2 weeks of Fall are beautiful.

I haven't hunted in 15 years or more, the population is so low in our area I sort of hate to shoot one. Flooding, ya' N Wisconsin is going to send a lot of water south this spring.

I think we've finally turned the corner and are headed toward spring.
C'mon S P R I N G!!!
MAMA NATURE DID A U-TURN ON US!

Just as the last bits of ice and snow in the driveway were about to melt, I woke up this morning to a new inch or so of snow. Now, 2 hours later we have about 3" on the ground and it's snowing like a mutha!

Apparently Mutha Nature had other thoughts for us.

As Woody said, we got more snow last weekend. Rain last night and today. Water water everywhere except under my boat!

YEp its coming, the dnr ordered all shantys off the ice in saginaw bay and the saginaw river by friday.

Called today to schedule our pick up from storage next Friday then Saturday morning heading to the canvas shop for all new canvas. It was about 55* here today.

60+ degrees today in Michigan....and snow in the forecast for tomorrow.

I was, however, out on the lake shore yesterday. The ice is fading fast. Hoping for earlier launches this year than last year...

Guys, this is a genuine question...

Why do you live in such extreme cold places? Do you enjoy the cold? I've been asking this question for about 30 years and always interested in the answers....
Work and only work. When I lived in FL and CO I don’t think I appreciated my location as I should have. Now we use our vacations to get south in the winter as much as possible.
