This has been a brutal start to 2019, fellas

I was going to whine a bit about the 3" of snow we got (and still snowing) until I read Woody's post, then read the small town newspaper my wife gets. It's from an area up around Snoqualmie Pass which is on I-90 and is famous for their huge snowfalls. In one 72 hour period last week they got 88" of snow.

Here's what it looked like up there...

I guess I won't gripe about our snowfall. Maybe just whine and sniffle a bit.

Went by the marina today to check on things, and dock was basically inaccessible unless you wanted to wade through hip (or maybe - chest) deep water. Water level is getting close to main power disconnect so am hoping we don't lose power. Nothing other than a few drinks in refrigerator, but I like to have the batteries fully charged. More rain is expected this week.

So here we are with the Kanawha River getting ready to jump it’s banks in some areas. Our parking lot at the boat club will be a mud mess when the river drops back down.

Picked up a new toy for the summer. I know everyone here likes pictures, but I tried to get video over a few days of the lake and river over the last week.

2-4 more inches in St. Paul Minnesocold. Someone needs to put Punxsutawney Phil in a smoker.

I followed a deer down the driveway for a half a mile yesterday. He didn't want to jump off into the snow. When he finally did he was gone, the snow was deeper than he was tall. He kept struggling and did make it back to the road. We're going to lose some this winter.

Cool video...nice dip on the water there at the end.

I wonder why they would only bubble some of the piers in your marina, and not all of them?

Yeah, just figuring out the drone. Didn't mean to 'dip' it. Thought I lost it when it dropped.

Not sure why they only bubble some. Maybe they figure that's enough for expansion without wrecking the docks. The other shot where the finger pier is broke is another harbor (Jackson Park) where they don't have any bubblers, and docks break just about every year.

They may selectivity bubble to speed up the ice out in the spring time. Our lake opens up faster as a result of folks bubbling their docks. Seems to work for our marinas too.

Well, the rains came and the lake is 9-1/2' above summer pool. Went to the marina yesterday since they were running pontoon boats from the shore to the docks, and shut down the cockpit refrigerator. Great timing as they shut the a.c. power off to most of the docks this afternoon.

We just set a 100 year record for snowfall in February. GW and I live on a cul-de-sac. I've talked with 4 other neighbors and we're all going in on a snow blower.

BRING IT ON MUTHA!

So next year it probably won't snow!

Happened to me three years ago. Bought my neighbors Expedition and plow for $2,000. Thought I would make some boat gas money. Put $800 in tires. First year I made $250. Last year $500. This year $1,700.

I keep telling my friends they owe me for not having much snow the last 3 years.
