So how do you go about getting the shine back.OVer all gell is clean and not oxidized .Any thing you put on it just soaks into the gel coat.

Sounds like it is oxidized. Many great threads on how to restore gelcoat.

depending on how bad, wet sand or compound it out then wax. I used buff magic with a HF 7" variable speed buff, then a good wax.

Oh yeah it sounds like a little wet sanding is in your future. Before that though run around the boat with a rotary buffer, wool pad and 3M super duty compound. You may see an amazing improvement. Check back after that and we'll go from there. Take some before and after pics and share them. It helps everyone down the line.
