i have a 9'6" achilles with a 60" beam and only 24" of swim platform. i have looked at every Dom's davits, Dom's davits with alex's mounts, hurley's, magstang1's and several others. i like the Doms'/Alex's idea but the keel of my dinghy hangs well over the edge of the platform ( 6" over).

i'm just having trouble getting a starting point as to where or if i should even bother.

does anyone have any ideas that i'm missing?

here are some pictures of the dinghy just hanging on with rope. the boat weighs nothing and the engine weighs even less. so i'm not worried about stressing anything, just the geometry is not working as i didn'[t want to lose the entire platform and don;t want a tripping hazzard.
are the puzzle pieces not going to work?

Have you looked at SeaWise Davit System? They rotate the dinghy up into a vertical position and also have a bracket that the motor mounts to that keeps the motor in a vertical position as the boat comes up.

I have a set that I removed from my 330. If you look at them and want to talk price, PM me. I'd let it go pretty cheap because it's just sitting in my garage right now.

will the seawise davits work with an inflatable air floor? their website is awful if you want information

Actually, I saw that it has a sta d with a winch. Not what I was looking for but thanks.

Since you have such a small platform, you may want to consider the weaver davits and vertical storage. Here is a pic of my setup. The advantage is you can still walk across the platform with the tender up. The rope lines can be taken down when not running of course.

I can and do leave the 8hp Yamaha on the transom of the dinghy at times while running. The Weaver arc bar supports the weight well.

Anyway, its an alternative to the flat layout of the other davits.

i have thought about that as well but dont like the hardware or the price. i was thinking of fabricating large hooks to sit the tubes in in that posiyion on the edge of the platform but was worried about drag while running.

My dingy was bought used and came with the Weaver pad on the tube and the Arm. I bought the davits and stand-off bars used so cost was very reasonable. They are expensive new, but used parts are relatively easy to find.

Another advantage I did not mention is that the dinghy doesn't fill with water while mounted (and I don't need a cover either). As for wind drag, I have never noticed a difference with it on or off the boat. But that is on a 330 with twin 454's.

i wasnt worried about power so much as stress on the tubes. my boat is fairly light and we start the repower tomorrow to 357 alpha's from 5.0 and it was quick before.

I too have been looking at many different davits, as I dislike the Weaver snap davits that I have. I haven't seen anything that will really work, but talked to St. Croix today, and they might have something that works. They have a special stand for SeaRay DA, and I'm waiting for them to send me photos.

I have seen used Hurley systems on eBay. Easiest option in my opinion. I got the H2O system for about $600'used.

For your size boat the Weaver Snap davits may work the best. Its where you install the snap davits to your swim platform and glue pads with a receiver to your inflatable. Check out Weavers site. If you decide to go with Weaver I'm selling a set of used davits that will mount easily to your platform for around $100. Les than half then new. Just PM me. Good luck

If you are going with Weavers, I have 2 sets of standoffs that I'd be willing to deal on, one fixed length and one adjustable. I can get you the fixed length dimension if you are interested.
