Many of you have heard me talk of teachers and students. Teachers are leaving the profession. Many including my wife because of admin refusing to back the teachers, refusing to suspend or remove students that show hostility towards staff or others. School systems running scared to act because the majority are black or Hispanic. Civil rights groups take those numbers and twist them to make their arguments. Now I’m sorry and I don’t mean to offend but that is the truth. Teachers are taking out restraining orders against kids that threaten them and their families. Then the courts slap Johnny and sends the child back to school. The complete system is busted. My list of things that my wife comes home with would be pages long.

While the complete story is still not in yesterday is a prime example of what teachers are going through. WAVY10 news is where you can find what they know so far. A first grader, 6yo brought a gun to school and shot one of his teachers. Now many of us had some crappy teachers but never did I want to shoot them. I’m sure the parents to this kid are also under investigation, at least I would hope they are. Red flag will be enforced and if the dad is like me they will be taking a good bit of firearms away.

Things MUST change somehow! I’m sorry, rant is over. It’s pushing my BP higher.

On iPhone so not searching, but here a kid brought a pistol, loaded to school and they can’t charge him with anything because there was no bullet racked into the chamber. Anne Arundel county. And appeals court overturned ban on bump stocks.
It’s going to sht real fast.

You need a license to drive a car. You need a license to catch a fish. But any moron can be a "parent."

I can't imagine the anguish your wife must feel about the awful situations she is dealing with daily. No doubt she loves teaching, or she wouldn't still be there. I just hope for her sake and yours too, that she can find an avenue she can pursue that lets her put her love of teaching and the betterment of kids to use without having to deal with that horrible condition existing in our schools today. You are right about the bulk of the troublemakers being from black or Hispanic kids. I also agree that it is the lack of balls and good sense on the part of the administrators that things have degraded to this point. It may turn around one day but not until this woke bullshit is gone. Get you sweetheart away from that hatefulness before she is damaged. Wishing you both the best.

Yep. My wife sees it every day too. Especially her school since it is a vocational technical school. The students 'regular' district must pay the vo tech school $12,000 per student per year if they attend vo tech so vo tech administration takes in any kids they can possibly get, including some from the juvenile detention centers. IEP's are the biggest problem. She has students that have an IEP saying they are allowed to carry 2 cell phones and are allowed to use them at any time. So a student can make a call to the friend in the middle of class and the teacher cannot do anything about it. One stabbed another in the neck with a fork but did not get in any trouble because they had an IEP.

I have a 10th grade daughter. She gets aggravated because the special group people get away with everything. They are untouchable. I never heard of a furry until last year. Yep even in our small town we got them.

Won't change until/unless you get local control back into the schools, so that LOCAL FOLKS make the decisions. Eliminate the Dept of Ed at the federal level and let the states allocate funds to each district as "fair" as possible and leave it up to LOCAL FOLKS to run their school systems and make their own decisions. At the state level, you can coordinate "best practices" or minimum standards, but leave the decisions on how to run the schools to local folks.

Local folks don't want to run the schools? Then I guess they have no schools!!

Nah. The local folks are a lot of the problem.

We have to get out of this “self esteem” crap and everyone gets a trophy. Sometimes you just suck. Deal with it.

How would you like to deal with even this in your job?
Definitely a lack of parenting from early on.

I wouldn't have gotten the f in FU out of my mouth before my teacher jacked me. Corporal punishment was effective deterrent. That said, I would have never dropped an F bomb on a teacher because what would happen to me at school would pale in comparison to what would be waiting for me at home...

I remember trying out for basketball. I was told flat out I sucked at it. LOL

I remember the principal's office in my high school in Idaho, in the early '60s, had a little ante-room right off his office that had glass in the wall so he could see right in there from his desk. That room had a 2x6 for a bench. It was mounted up tight against the wall so you couldn't get your butt cheeks on it cause it was too narrow. The first five minutes wasn't bad but after awhile it was a struggle and hurt like hell. It made you really want to stand up. Well, if you did something that caused you to get sent to him for punishment, he would ask you if you wanted swats with his paddle, it hung on his wall behind his chair, or would you rather sit in the "waiting room" for 30 minutes. The paddle was a 3/4 inch piece of cedar about 3 inches wide with a nice handle whittled on one end. Depending on what infraction the teacher had conveyed to "Chrome Dome" 'er the principal, you might be up for 3 swats or 5 or whatever was deemed the rectifying number. The odd thing was whatever number of swats you had coming the principal always ask if you wanted the same 30 minutes or whatever the number of whacks, so of course you would choose the waiting room. The kicker came when after you gladly chose sitting in the waiting room for 30 minutes, he let on that the deal was if you didn't stay seated for the whole 30 minutes you still got the whacks. The man had done his homework on torture and on psychology. Looking back on it, it was Genius.
When your ass got to aching so bad you thought you could maybe just lift your butt a little to get some relief and you looked over through that glass at the storm trooper, he was always starring right back at you. Great memories there.

People today will say you should not have turned out so well. You cannot even yell at people today.

Now let’s compound all that was mentioned with CRT, where students are taught to hate one another based on the color of their skin - woke LGbTVBAJSNFUGF875$&?@, where curriculum encourages students to cut off their schweens (for example but not limited too) - and then in non-science class teach that the world is going to end in 10 years, because mom dropped you off in a gas guzzling mini-van and packed you a roast beef sandwich made from cow farts…..

….what could go wrong with impressionable minds???

I am a teacher and this frustrates us as well. I am not allowed to give the special kids in class the same test as the other kids, they are to be given HALF the questions, allow MORE time, be read the question if they desire, and the questions can't be MULTIPLE STEP QUESTIONS, meaning if there are three steps to a question, they must be labeled 1, 2, 3. and separated out. The one student I am thinking of has everything he needs in life, $$, parents, housing..yet just doesn't do any homework, then when he does poorly on tests, he doesn't understand why. I am also not allowed to give less than 50 on any assignment. This person should be in a special ed school or repeating the previous grade. Yet admin says "if you follow the plan, he should be fine" - so now it's my fault when he gets an F, even when I'm following his learning plan... what am I supposed to do? Pickup the pencil and do his work for him? I have typically been in an admin role, with a bit of teaching mixed in. This is my first year in a while being a core sub teacher and I have already let admin know that I will take on other admin duties next year, but will not be teaching a core subject. In a nutshell, this post and every reply is why.

Yep. Wife says she has students that are given a multiple choice test but 2 wrong answers are crossed out so they only have 2 to select from then if they guess the wrong one the teacher will ask if they are sure about that. And her administration said nobody is allowed to get under 50% on anything. She has students that miss 120 of 180 days and still pass
