While walking to my boat yesterday I noticed some snaps off the cover (we are meticulous with snapping down), opened the back and sandy footprints on the seat…cover off and they had tried to open the cabin door, tried to pry the lowrance off, and tried to pry off the trim tab switch:/ Took a few things out of the cockpit like binoculars, fish poles, tackle box, etc…I was fuming! Still fuming… D5B6DCE1-9E3C-4F11-8BDA-151830A53952.jpeg 934FB46E-8BB8-4349-A20B-65434BB93179.jpeg C1285E5A-F72D-4867-9F84-26CB82126A77.jpeg I’ve looked at previous posts about security cameras and didn’t see anything that would apply for my situation. No electric or WiFi at my marina, looked online a bit this am and found a Vosker camera that is solar/battery powered and has different plans if you don’t have WiFi. Does anyone have one of these, or any other suggestion for a cam that doesn’t require electricity or WiFi? Thanks for any input:)

Trail cam makes cellular cameras also, have two on my docks to keep eye on boats, just add a extra line to your cell bill.

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll check em out. Will probably try to mount it up high on a flagpole right above our slip.

We have Ring cameras at home. They have a siren feature that is pretty loud and you can also turn that on or off from home. The battery version lasts a long time between recharges and you can set motion zones, alerts, etc. The recordings are on their cloud server if you subscribe to that ($5 a month per camera). I think there are cheaper alternatives, but happy with the Ring.

Luckily we don’t have theft at our marina so I don’t need to use a camera at the boat. (We did get our house broken into to steal my X5, which is when we decided to use cameras)

Yeah I saw that thread creek, use to have an x5, loved it. Don’t have ring at the house, but that sounds like another good option, like the $5/month price point.

Yeah I thought of that too pirate, them stealing the camera, that’s why I’m gonna try to mount it on the marina flagpole that’s right by our slip, so it’s too high to get to… would have to be able to use a ladder to switch battery tho…crazy what thieves will/will not take tho, we had 2 sand bar poles in the gunnel that are worth $100, didn’t take those, who knows.

They must have been amateurs or kids if they tried to pry out your screen. The pro's know how they are mounted. Also a stupid place to pry a sliding door.

We have 3 Arlo cameras here at our house. Have the solar panels and there is a 'hub' that the cameras connect to wirelessly. The hub is then connected to our network. Not sure how you would connect all that on a boat without a network though?

Christo, just a suggestion but I wouldn't mount it high up on a pole because that might limit the camera's angle so you wouldn't be able to get face recognition.

Good point go, I just want it high enough so maybe a thief can’t reach it…bullshit we gotta worry about this kind of stuff:/ love this forum tho, so much knowledge, thanks to everyone:) and I guess even if it’s mounted on the boat, if they get on and steal it, I’d have that on video

Dont you guys watch NCIS? They can hone in a face from a satellite, in the dark, through a mask, in a moving car at 100 mph. New technology is amazing.
The hot goth chick is best ever. Love the pig tails.

That’s true pirate, about the goth chick too lol…chick that does all the legwork on American Pickers ain’t half bad either:)

Siren Marine makes marine security systems. I don't use them (no real need in our marina) but with their product mix, you can put together a pretty good security system. Connectivity is cellular, and things like their motion detectors and snap alarms might scare off intruders before they really get into the boat.

I do like the idea of the snap alarms, that would’ve chased those lowlifes off from the get go

Unless the cameras are alarming real time, and you are close enough to do something about it, they are really only there to show you what happened, maybe. Prevention, is motion detection, coupled to an ear splitting alarm, at least until they do it twice, and realize no one is coming. If you get false alarms, you will lose friends and neighbors. It sucks that this even has to be a topic.

It does suck, we are 20-25mins from the boat, I would love to catch someone in the act, but who knows

Would probably make it there before cops
