Just another whine and cry thread about the dang snow! :smt089 After all, there ain't nothing else to do. In my neck of the woods they are predicting 7-10 inches by tomorrow afternoon. I am really starting to regret not putting the boat in dry covered storage this year. I'm sick and tired of brooming the evil powder off the cockpit cover every time it snows to prevent it from being ripped to shreds from the accumulating weight.
Come hell or high water, I'm building a shed for it this year. Damn global warming! Where's that Owl Gore when you need him? :smt021

Believe me I know. My shop in Wisconsin is a non insulated pole barn. My torpedo heater does ok in it. But not so well when it is 0 to -10 every night. Not to mention the snow drifts in front of my boats are as high as the bow rails. And they are on trailers with the bows raised up high! I plowed the drifts down with my plow truck and caved in the passenger door and busted off the passenger mirror the stuff was so tall and heavy. This weekend I intend on moving them out. Plowing the parking spaces then placing them back. I have to do this because once the spring melt then re freeze starts they will require TNT to get them out.

We're getting blasted with that white stuff. :smt013

* LOCATIONS...ONONDAGA...MADISON...AND ONEIDA COUNTIES.

* ACCUMULATIONS...8 TO 12 INCHES OF SNOW.

* TIMING...STEADY SNOW WILL SPREAD ACROSS THE AREA OVERNIGHT. THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL IS EXPECTED GENERALLY BETWEEN 4 AM AND NOON...WHEN SNOWFALL RATES COULD REACH 1 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR AT TIMES. SNOW WILL TAPER OFF BY LATER WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.
Blue = Snow. :smt021

I can see with your map my sons in PA won't be going to school tomorrow. I'm starting to think they will be in school until July! Damn

We're in the same boat here in CT. It's not supposed to be just snow tonight though... it's expected to ice over and bring down power lines. Can't wait for all my pipes to burst when the power goes out. :smt021

I think this is the worst winter I can remember and I was around for the blizzard of 78. We have had some very mild winters recently though. For several years we could get a hundred miles or so of bike rides in per month in January and February.

Yep...me too. I have Super 8 film around here of moms '63 Biscayne wagon driving down a two-lane highway with plowed snowdrifts on either side as high as a cabover semi-truck. That two-lane road was only one lane passable, and you had to radio ahead on the CB to let anyone monitoring 19 know that you were coming. There was no stopping or backing up. Crazy.

This is quite the lead in for this spring....there's a lot of snow everywhere...the flooding should be something else. Too bad they can't steer the extra water to the west where it's needed.

Oh man...I just found this and it really cuts to the matter!

[h=2]Free Snow. Limited Time Offer (until about March) (Pretty much the whole damn country)[/h]
Hello there,

If you have stumbled upon this ad I am offering free snow and plenty of it. No tricks, no gimmicks, no hidden fees. Just lots and lots of free snow. Come get it while it's white!

But wait, there's more! More snow, that is. Plenty for everyone, in fact. My driveway is filled with it. My backyard too. And my seasonal gliding porch swing, which is in fact seasonal and which I forgot to take down seasonally this season, is also filled with snow.

You may take snow from any location on my property you choose. I am not picky (although it would be swell if you would start with my front driveway).

Why would you want to take this snow, you ask? Well, snow is good for many things. You can melt it and drink it. You can make snowballs and peg your enemies with it. You can melt a snowball next to someone sleeping and make them think they peed the bed. It will entertain your children for hours. You can even LOSE children and small dogs in it, if you find a particularly large or deep snowbank.

Snow is also good for getting out of work or school. Save it for a summer day, then take this snow and pile it high around your own house and driveway. You can then proceed to legitimately call in to work and tell your boss that you are snowed in- even if yours is the only house in the neighborhood that is.

Finally, there are plenty of places in the world undergoing drought. I'm sure they would love to have this snow and, for humanitarian reasons, you should take it to them.

So, as I said, this is a legitimate and limited time offer. Come get it while it's less than thirty-two degrees outside! Also, snow is best when it is still white and this neighborhood has a lot of dogs. So if I were you, I would get here quick and jump on this offer before the snow turns yellow, melts, or is taken by everyone else! (Or before the next snowstorm buries this house so deep, you won't be able to find it.) Either or.

Must bring own shovel, plow, snowblower, etc and truck to haul.

No appointment necessary.

$2/cup hot cocoa, $5/cookie, $50 charge for waking the sleeping baby if you are outside and you sneeze too loudly because she has supersonic ears.
Offer not valid in all locations, including Hawaii, Bora Bora, and pretty much anywhere else tropical. Discounts do not apply, you cheapskate.
Offer not valid after Easter, or whenever the official start of spring is. Offer not valid when temperature is above 32 degrees, because then there won't be any snow. Duh.

***Seasonal gliding swing not included in this offer.
***Not responsible for legal and child protective proceedings stemming from the use of snow taken from my property
***Also not responsible for costs incurred shipping a crap ton of snow to the desert. Nor am I responsible for the logistics of that trip.

  • Location: Pretty much the whole damn country
  • do NOT contact me with unsolicited services or offers
