The perfect Christmas present

When I was a kid, my grandpa would make us sand the old wooden boat! It was good work. His theory was if we wanted to go water skiing, we would have to participate in the up keep and care of the boat.

Jedi good job!!!

Jammer, Carter...you guys are funny!

I have had both a wood stove and a pellet stove. I currently have a pellet stove, and have for about 10 years. I didn't have a place to cut my own firewood, so I had to buy it. So for me, it was a trade off....I had to buy either wood or pellets. The pellet stove is so much easier and cleaner burning. I dump a 40 lb. bag of pellets in the hopper, turn it on (mine has an electronic igniter) and in about 8 minutes, I have a fire.
Keeping the pellet stove clean is a PITA though....most tell you its every ton of pellets but I have found even burning low ash premium pellets i still have to clean it frequently. Scraping the burn pot etc....Works great but Im not in love with it

I'm thinking that my job will be supervisory in nature and that their experience will be enhanced if Dad is admiring their efforts while enjoying a Cohiba and a Nauti Mojito. <g>

That sounds like an awesome plan!! What is the nauti part of the mojito? A beverage named after your boat?

I agree there is some work, but what I like is I can take a wet papertowel and clean the glass every few weeks and it looks new again. I never could do that with a wood stove. Once the creosote (spelling?) was cooked on the glass...it was there forever. My stove has a huge ash pan and I only dump it once or twice a year. I do not heat my house with my pellet stove, so mine does not burn 24/7.

Hey Gang, I lived in coal country. My job was to bring 2 - 5 gal pales into the house for mom before catching the bus to school. A no.2 scoop shovel was my tool of choice. In the evening I would spread the ashes on the drive so dad could get up the drive from work. Always seemed to be tired at bed time. Wonder why??
