Pro tip: a rag pushed into the garbooard plug and directed to the lowest point with a screwdriver will wick every last ounce out of a boat on the hard

That little sling mark says it’s time for a new pump. I guess I’ll be doing a write up and review of a Hardin Marine pump here shortly.

I’m not sure if it’s my change of docking location or the fact that I redid the drive with polyurethane primer, but it seems like my corrosion problem has been addressed. At my previous location before the refinish that anode would have been twice the size with the oxide blooms overnight.

Looking forward to getting my final set of props and getting the propglide applied

While I was getting ready to change my pump, I decided I would plug my muffs and put them over the drive intakes with the drive tilted all the way up. I had already closed the seacock as I have the horizon model with dual intakes. This definitely slowed most of the water ingress while the hose was open.

When things have multiple uses :D The silicone variant would work well to patch a broken through hull in an emergency

Now I am off to scrub my bilge yet again, and remove all the greasy paw prints

Interesting choice of "Plugs" to use for the water hose. :p
I may have done that specifically for the picture

I went from getting .7 PSI at idle to 1.2 PSI. I’m not sure if the hardin moves that much more water, or if my 2.5 year old 270 hr pump was just worn out.

It was definitely leaking at the shaft seal though

I had the piling guys come out today and wrap the rotted pilings on my dock in reinforced cement. There wasn’t a whole lot of structure left but now I don’t have to worry about them snapping off if we have a little blow come through. Pretty reasonable at 250 a pile. At 9200 pounds she could do some damage bouncing around

I’ve never seen 20+ psi before, and it also used to creep up a few degrees at cruising rpm. So far it seems to be an improvement

I’ve also put about 11 hours on since the last oil change, and I’m noticing my usual small amount of oil consumption is basically nonexistent with the 19” props

Underwater light quits
Haul boat, replace $420
Launch boat
Hurricane threatens
Haul boat again
Relaunch boat
Both lights work
Fast forward two weeks
Other light fails…

Boats…

Well, last night was an expensive night :D

After finding out my second underwater light failed, my water pump in my generator decided to grenade pulling into my dock. In the process of opening it up to check the drive coupler I wound up stepping on the plug in my water distribution housing and cracking that.

They get $430 for that little piece of plastic with that pneumatic drain! Since I am in Florida now, I am considering putting a 90° fitting there since it’s only one in and one out on my motor. I don’t suspect I’ll ever have to deal with freezing conditions and if I do, it’s easy enough to drop a hose clamp and let it drain. She’s been wailing on me pretty hard these last few weeks $500 at a clip.

This post is funnier if you read it with the Benny Hill theme song playing in your head
