The Norcold fridge went out service or replace

Boat is a 2000 and the fridge was making a very quite pumping noise last weekend. So before leaving I cleaned it out and defrosted it. The girlfriend went out there tonight and turned it on and it's not making any noise what so ever. She said the rags we put in there to soak up the water smelled chemically.

I'm not sure whether to replace the fridge or try a service tech I'm curious on the expense of replacement or service.

Not sure why there would be a chemical smell to the rags. Are you sure it's on? I can't help you with replacement / repair costs.

Replaced mine last year. $900 plus $150 install.

You have to rebuild the Norcold in the boat....Good luck finding any Cold kits...they are not in the country as of yesterday........

You can buy a cold plate kit to retro fit your current NeverCold. One example...

Actually, anything with a Danfoss compressor will work as a retrograde and you'll not hear it and it will be very misery on power consumption...
