Sold the John Deere LA110 rider on craigslist this week, picking up the Toro 20197.

Why you ask did I make this decision?

A) I put up a fence last Oct. and it shrank my mowing space considerable.

B) A little sweating in the sun never hurt anyone.

C) Exercise.

Excited like a child to pick this baby up tonight and mow my lawn!

You must already have a walk behind snow blower or you wouldn't be gettin' rid of the JD! I've always had a riding lawn mower, even during a stint in a SMALL yard(20 minutes to mow AND weed beat!). I didn't want to sell it because we were continually moving and the NEXT yard might be huge! It's been 21 years and I still own the same riding lawnmower and a good sized yard!

i had a snow blade on the deere and i'm pretty sure i'm going to miss that. it was a blast to move snow at night with a beer.

actually going to wait till fall to get a snow blower.

with the snow blower i'll be able to actually get my side walks. the blade on the deere was to long to get the job done.

I'm glad you posted this before purchasing the snowblower b/c now this sounds like a perfect opportunity to invest in a fine 4x4 ATV with winch and plow attachments. Think of the upside potential for winter fun in the neighborhood. My neighbors all think I'm nuts, but I'm having fun with the kids no matter what the weather.

$30? HA!! I MAKE my son do it for nothing!!

I'm with thirtydaZe. I have had this mower for 12 years and can't (personally) justify a riding mower while I am still healthy and can walk. I like the exercise and the sweat. I feel good when I'm done. And yes, I have a pretty big yard.

Not even the Mexican Man can cut my lawn the way I like it, and where I live it's a couple hundred dollars a month + for a lawn service.

My next door neighbor bought one of those for his 1/3 on an acre. After he he ran into his house 3 times and killed a tree, he cleaned it up and returned it.

I convinced him that maybe a Toro personal pace might be the right speed.

Wow, all those methods sound better than the way I do it...

Damn it, why did you have to post that? I flashed back to my least favorite part of my childhood. I viewed that damn manual mower as an implement of torture. Do you have any idea how hard it was and how long it took to cut an acre of zoysia that was overgrown with one of those damn things? God I hated that thing.

Reel mowers cut better than anyghing out there. I can't find a power reel mower anywhere anymore.

My Toro rocks! Change the plug, change the oil, sharpen the blade and I'm ready for another year. Maybe 5 pulls to start first start of the season. After that max of two pulls. I have an older model with the blade brake clutch. Release the handle, the blase stops, but the motor keeps going. Kinda neat.

My head....it feels really funny and I am really confused....:smt101

I sat down at the computer to browse my favorite boating forum and somehow I must have gone through a worm hole or something.

I thought I was readin' about 454's and Cat diesels and the next thing I know I'm on a Briggs & Stratton forum.

Looks like I picked the wrong day to quit sniffin' glue. :smt100

I'm with you Jeff, I have the same JD by the look of it. I have a lot of grass to cut and even with the ride on mower it is a 3 hour job. I have been trying to talk the wife into down sizing but no luck so far.

Since you guys are so excited about your mowers I have some good news. There was a recent class action suit settled regarding mowers and you can get as much as $75.00 per mower . Go to " lawnmowerclass.com" File a claim on line. I just heard about the site. need to get numbers off my two riders for some mail box money.....

Get a ZTR if you want to mow fast. I have a JD 727a and can mow 4 acres in about 1 hour. I also have a tractor type ride on mower, I only use it for towing spreaders and aerators as it mows way too slow.
