For those of you that dream of taking an "extended" journey, here is a good blog to read. Not as funny as Gary's last year, but better scenery :)

The background: Three Nordhavns making a run from Seattle to Japan via Alaska.

So far, it's been pretty entertaining/informative read. There are photos and some you tube videos in some of the logs.

Ken Williams wrote a book on the NAR (Nordhavn Atlantic Rally) which was pretty informative and easy reading. No humor though, so Gary doesn't have any competition there. These boats are amazing. There are many here in SoCal, as PAE is HQ's in Dana Point. I'd love to own a 62 or 68 someday and travel to Hawaii and then through French Polynesia.

The only "problem" is the smaller (aka more affordable boats in the 40-43 foot range) are kind of spartan in the interior department. Also, not too many amenities on the exterior either. I walked onto a 40 at a boat show once and left thinking of it as more of a "tool" to make extended passages with. Spending weeks on that would drive me insane.

Apples to oranges here, but if you compare what you get for 600K to a million dollars, Noradvn to Sea Ray, the Sea Ray looks like the Savoy in London compared to a Fairfield Inn.

Now....when you get to the 47, 55's and up that's a whole 'nother story. Did a tour of a 72 once and it was jaw-dropping.
