Went to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island yesterday and you would have thought I was flying around the world. I had to take my belt off two times and go through security two times. These private security guys are not as bad as the TSA but what a waste of taxpayer money. My belt has no metal and I still had to remove it! As a national park (which it is) I have the right to carry a firearm with my CCW permit! Now I realize I'm in the Red Commie State of NY so that isn't going to happen. I guess I'm saying I would never go back and if they are afraid someone is going to blow her up (Lady Liberty), don't let anyone enter the island. I saw so many federal employees (Park Rangers) standing around doing nothing so at $5 a person, I'm sure like Amtrack, they are loosing millions of dollars. The diesel fuel cost more than $5 a person for the boat ride. The Ranger Service was also cruising around in their own steel hulled diesel boat on our dime. On a positive note, I saw a beautiful Sea Ray cruising the Hudson....looked like a newer 340. The Coast Guard was doing their part also.....boats and helecopters everywhere. You would think we're at war. I'm just getting a bit tired of all the security crap.....let's disarm everyone but the bomber who could care less, Mike.
