Boat Info
250 Sundancer 1998 5.7.
Engines
350 Merc / Bravo 3
The "all clear" to start "Whistle" when turning the key to run position for the last 12 years is now silent. (Engine cranks but NO start, which is the same way when the kill switch is in the off ( emergency ) position
NOTE: The "Kill switch" lanyard is in the correct position because when the switch is " off" it stops the fuel pump as it has always.
I assume it is a normal closed loop? does anyone have the devices that open the circuits ( other than the kill switch! ) I have checked all the Breakers and the fuses.

Found rusted and fell apart as soon as I touch the wires. Obviously not grounded anymore. Hopefully, this is it?
Now Getting the part in the tee without breaking it should be interesting. its tees into one of the drain lines pipes used for winterizing ( blue plug)

now I think it's a "water pressure sensor" but can't seem to find the part. this one has a single connection the ones I find have 3 wire connections. Looks more like the knock-sensor connections,,,

it is a knock sensor found this:
  • Knock sensor - Screws into the side of the engine in front of the starter. It screws into the water drain plug hole. Get from donor. If you are not going to program the chip then I recommend you run the knock and ESC.

Anybody knows what this means? "If you are not going to program the chip then I recommend you run the knock and ESC."

looks to be possible Drive Oil monitor reservoir problem as per the Bayliner group's help since it's on the circuit and will stop the engine from running, will check. its only two wires i assume it closes the circuit when full

still, no good Drive fluid monitor is good.
It's Normally open by the way. emptied the fluid and I got closure on the circuit.
Going to change the Knox sensor tomorrow, if not good? Sea tow to the
boat mechanic... ugh..

Your doing fine but I have no idea what your talking about.

Program chip, ESC ???

That rusty thing thta fell off is indeed a knock sensor. you should replace it as it protects your engine from damage in the event of a condition known as detonation or "spark knock". However it will not prevent your engine from starting, the engine wont know its missing. The factbthat your buzzer was actuating and no longer is points to an electrical problem more basic than engine sensors etc. Triple check fuses and breakers with a meter or test light. Dont forget the main breaker on the engine. If you have the sea ray manuals they often have good wiring diagrams

The knock sensor is missing its threads. Probably snapped off in the block.
Drill
Tap
Reinstall.

The knock sensor has a brass Y-fitting for both the sensor and drain plug

I need the Brass Y adapter
I Can't find it or a part number.
not sure if it's a Mercruiser part.

1998 5.7

Thanks Maybe this should be in its own thread?
