that was just embarrassing for notre dame. personally, i'm a big SEC fan (UGA). clearly, it's time for college plaayoffs. the championship game was obviously the SEC Championship game where Bama just barely topped UGA. it's just not that impressive to go undefeated in some of the other divisions.
7 in a row for the SEC!

I quit watching early in the 3rd quarter. Embarrassing!

Yep... ND was way over rated!

That game was pitiful. It was like a good college team vs a poor high school team. Fortunately I had the Knicks game to switch too. Even though they lost to the Celtics it was a very fierce & physical competitive game right to the end. Oh yeah and .......LET'S GO RANGERS!!!!!

Bama vs Ducks would have been the game to watch. What a waste of a few hours I'll never get back. Oh well, NFL playoffs this weekend so hopefully we will see one good game.

Notre Dame embarrassed themselves. I went to bed before halftime.

I can't help but wonder how these games would turn out if the teams only had two weeks off. Sure you can say both teams had 6 weeks off, but that amount of time off has to be a factor.

Another irritating thing is all the quality of competition on New Year's Day. That used to be the penultimate day of college football and now with all of the diluted bowl matchups, it's practically unwatchable.

Go Dawgs!!
The SEC championship game was the real championship game this year (IMHO).

Now we can start with the 49ers VS Packers talk!

Yeah, get started on a 30 game season! Go Shark's!

Hey Ken,

Don't shortchange it!! They are doing a full 48 games!! Haha!

I'm not happy being in the outside looking in on the playoffs! It really sucks. I can't believe we kept our defensive coordinator! I think we were ranked 31st on D!!! Wtf?

I loved every minute of it. When I watch football I want to see a lot of points scored & I want my team to score most of them. Period. Nothing worse for me than to watch a punting contest where teams score 3 points at a time. A "defensive battle" is nothing more than series after series of offensive failures.

The Tide made few, very few mistakes & the result was another win. The fact that N.D. Was out played, out coached & totally unprepared are the reasons the game did not live up to the hype or to the expectations of some here. There are 4 or 5 teams that could have done much better against Alabama.

The current system of team selection sucks, and last night was proof of that. The network made a Gazillion dollars in ad sales, which is why N.D. Was there to start with. In 2014 the "play offs" come to college football. Maybe then The Championship game will be a closer contest. Until then we have next season. Alabama will start the year ranked #1, I believe Ohio State comes off of probation so maybe they would like a piece of the action!

Either way, like I said, I want to see a lot of points scored & I want my team to score the most of them.

Roll Tide!

I did not have a horse in this race, but I like football. Yes, Alabama played a GREAT game, while ND played like a program that had not been to a National Championship game before. The lack of consistant play, all the accolades ND coaches and players traveling around the country to receive seem to have affected them mentally. Saban and Alabama know the drill, it is a big advantage to them and they used it well. Just like rookie laden NFL teams rarely make the playoffs and fewer win until they know. The SEC has built a football conference second to none.

As for the other teams that might have made it, it would depend on just which team showed up to play for the NSBCS. In Oregon's case the team that smoked so many or the one that lost to Stanford and only scored 14 points. Or in Alabama's case the team that they left home that lost to Texas. One never knows why it turns out the way it does and that is why they play the games and why we enjoy them.

I find it interesting that college football is so huge in the south and NFL seems a small passtime while it appears reversed in the north. What gives? For me college football is only on if I have nothing else to do. I'm sure for you Tide and Dawgs fans this is near heresy. One personal note: I am now VERY dissapointed I did not visit the Volunteer Navy while we were in Knoxville.

Congrats to the Alabama fans!

I agree on the popularity issue Mike. Up by me we don't really have any dominant collegiate football programs. I guess the closest one would be Syracuse, about 8 hours north of NYC. Meanwhile we have 2 pro football teams that get LOTS of news coverage. In addition there are 2 NBA teams and 3 NHL teams to keep the sports writers busy. I just don't think there is enough time to follow all of the teams and with the college football programs lacking a dominant Division 1 team locally they are just not as popular. Hofstra (Wayne Chrebets Alma Mater) disbanded it's football program a few years ago. Stony Brook (My Alma Mater) went Division 1 a few years ago and is completely overmatched. I don't even think that St. Johns has a football program (although their basketball program isn't bad) and is in the process of bailing on the Big East Conference. That is just about all of the Division 1 schools on Long Island. You won't see me buying season tickets any time soon.

hey mike, i'm in ATL and we are HUGE pro fans as well. we have the team with the best record in the NFL! we get no respect since our current line up hasn't won a playoff game yet. but everyone fails to recognize that those losses were usually to the eventual superbowl champs. we've just had an unlucky draw the past few years, that's all. go falcon! on sunday night, seatle will be mourning the end of their season.

Mike, you could get shot for saying things like that around here. (Grin) I think alot has to do with the SEC and the local teams in the area. Plus as I always say my Daughter and Money went to UGA so I have to support it (lol)

Go Dawgs!!
