Mercury 5.7 Horizon MPI
Started hearing the two beeps while returning on a rough 2 hour drive from Baltimore. I have the Merc 350 MPI's. I managed to get back to the dock and at 4000 RPM it appeared to run fine. As I got to the dock my port enging sputtered and quit. I can't start it in neutril but if i give it a little gas it starts but runs rough. Engines are a 2006 and have been running great for 4 years. I am glad to have gotten back to the dock for my last cruze of the season but I need the engine running to be able to witerize it. The manual states a "Sensor" but not which one. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Be sure to also change your IAC muffler and order some extras. Clogging of the muffler can accelerate failure of the IAC. They are about $1 each so I change mine a couple times a year. Many people also carry a spare IAC in their tool box. In some cases they have been known to prevent the engine from starting at all when they fail although what you are experiencing is the usual symptom.

I agree with Jason. Your IAC and/or the IAC muffler is the culprit. This exact same scenario you had has happened to me more than one time.
