Thank You Frank Webster And Mercruiser

Back in 2007, I read a thread by Frank about the 8.1 manifold failures. I called Mercruiser to express my concerns. They made a note on the account as to my fears of a failure, but said there was no recall or wide spread problem. Last week, I noticed a manifold leaking badly. I got the boat to a Mercruiser dealer. They evaluated the engines and determined that the manifolds needed replacement. I called Mercruiser while at the shop. After conversations with me and the shop,Mercruiser agreed to provide all of the parts at no chage. i agreed to the labor, as the boat is in its sixth season. Thanks to Frank for making us aware of the issue, and Mercruiser for doing the right thing ! :thumbsup:

Glad that they came through for you, me on the other hand they basically told to drop dead. I'm not the original owner but started contacting Mercruiser as soon as I heard of Frank's post, first through Marine Max then via a local Formula dealer and finally directly to Mercruiser. "Corrosion warranty is expired, not our problem". Stopped responding to my e-mails and have not returned any of my calls.
