My coolant began to dissapear and there is no external leak. A mechanic removed the heat exchanger after testing the pressure at the expansion tank and it did lose pressure. So now i would like to confirm the HX is the culprit rather than cleaning it up et.and replacing it only to have to remove it again to pull the head off (i'd have mechanic do that). Is there an easy way to check it myself? Or, will a radiator shop do that? First one i called said no.

To get both my heat exchanges (2) cleaned, checked for leaks, pressure tested and pained it was 196 plus 38 for new end caps. Worth it as one was partaly plugged.

Try another radiator shop, have had mine tested and repaired a few years back at a local shop.
