Looks like fun Greg! Makes me want to leave work and go boating for sure!

Is this a 'V' for Virginia or a half a$$ed attempt at the shocker?

That would be Steve, one of our newest Sea Ray buds, and yes it's the shocker.

Oh, and did you notice the brown stuff we were boating in? They call that the James River down here.

Tell him to put down his 'ring finger' next time. It's "two in the $%#^, one in the $%^&@" not "two in the &^%$, two in the *&^%$". :smt043

Yeah, he is a newbie to the shocker. I forgot these photos were Public...oh well.

Lets see, two minutes of video at $5 a gallon and 36 GPH at 3200 RPM... $6 worth of your gas we get to "burn" while watching your video... cool.

I will have to play this on my laptop while "cruising" at my new self imposed speed of 1400 RPM and 6 knots and 12 GPH. The same two minutes will only cost me $2.

Now I feel much better.... I guess

How those fuel pumps you changed a few years ago holding up Greg?

I uploaded some videos today. While clicking through them I found 2 the Mrs must have done. They both make we want to run down to the boat right now and take her out:

You diesel boys ain't got nothing on 2 big blocks roaring at 3300 RPMs!

The other ones are just a bunch drunk girls we like to call our friends!

Nice vid - but where are the drunk girls? Not like that was my primary reason for checking out the link...As far as you know.

Jon:

That's not a very economical cruise RPM that you've chosen.

6 knots =~6.9 MPH. 6.9MPH / 12GPH = .576 sMPG. My 380DA with 8.1s would average ~ .8 sMPG at cruise of 22 Knots.

Yeah I noticed that and was going to give you a hard time :smt009.........man that's brown.

Mrs R is running like a charm (fingers crossed). New sea water and fuel pumps are doing their jobs well.

Dom,

You forced me to check all my numbers, and I stand corrected. I mistakenly doubled the GPH at 1400 to 12. When it is actually 6. Keep in mind that I dont have fuel flow meters on my boat so all my GPH numbers are assumptions based upon other published data on 454 fuel consumption. Fellow NJ CSR member Ron has my same engines in his boat and some of my calculation are based upon data he gave me. I tend to think my 36 GPH at 3200 RPM is probably overstated but I am not sure. Where did you get the GPH numbers for your 380? I also just found this interesting article that susports my 1400 RPM cruise habit: http://www.portky.com/articles/efficiency.html

This is an interesting subject especially given the new reality on fuel costs. I would love to GPH numbers from anyone out there with a 370 like mine, especially at the lower RPM range at displacement speeds.

I actually enjoy the slower pace and quieter sound but I would by kidding you to say that if I could cook along at 3200 all the time I would not do it.

Dom,

Jon:

I installed smartcraft with instant GPH on my 380DA.

Back when I was looking at buying a 370DA, I called the Factory and they emailed me actual runs and GPH numbers for the 370DA. I can't find the files right now, but I'll look on my other machines for you later to see if I still have them.

I will hull speed cruise at 1200 RPMs, which is 5-7 knotts depending on current and wind. Not sure what the GPH is there, but it feels like a savings.

Not bad use of that pool toy either!
