I have a 2002 410 with CruiseAir SMX II controls in my V-Berth. When I use the remote for my television it changes the settings on my air conditioning control! Sometimes it turns the heat on, other buttons seem to affect the fan setting. I know that the "ok" button on my tv remote causes the most havoc with the a/c control. Has anyone else experienced this? The A/C units are original to my boat so they are 2002 vintage. The TV is a couple years old but a flat screen (not the original tube tv) and I think the tv remote is infrared. I haven't tried the other remotes yet.

You probably have the Marine Aire (notice the e at the end of Aire, not a mistake) IR controlled thermostat. And you Tv is also IR and they happen to share the same Ir codes. The only way to fix that would be to block off the Marine Aire thermostat Ir input with black tape or the like.

I just looked it up on the web and my A/C controls are the SMX IR controls. So I guess that it is infrared and the TV remote is the problem. I don't have the remotes for my A/C controls so I'll see if I can put some black tape over the input. Thanks!

Mine has been doing the same for long while and with different remotes. We just live with it. Usually just makes cool go to heat/cool.

We had the same issue in the side stateroom of our last boat. Finally figured out what was causing it after running new thermostat wire and replacing the motherboard...

Some black electrical tape over the IR sensor did the trick.

What an incredibly annoying problem to have. Glad you got it figured out.
