Can anyone give me ideas on where to place a TV on a 260 SD? Just bought mine and can't decide size or placement...got 2 kids and it's a must!

I have seen flip down DVD players mounted on new models. This would be the same type you see at Best Buy for minivans.

As a alternate just get a portable DVD player.

Heres one in a 260DA

I do not like the flip down factory TV in my 260DA. If I were doing it over, I would buy a flat screen TV instead that could be placed on the shelf above the microwave.

If you don't have a TV antenna you may also need to figure out something for that too unless you are hooked up to cable or Satellite.

I went with a portable DVD unit. The main benefit I have seen so far is that my daughter can watch it in the aft cabin by herself or she can bring it to the v-berth and we can watch it together. A fixed unit would limit her (us) to one place only.

But if I were to do a an LCD with DVD unit, I would opt for somewhere in the galley cabinet (vs. the factory location for the flip down).

Thanks for the info. Bridog...how big is the screen on that flipdown?
10.4" I think. I thought about attaching a larger one to my 04 260DA right on the door of that storage compartment shown. Not sure about the weight issues. A portable might make more sense.

I had a 99 260 and placed a 15inch LCD on the storage door. I ran electrical from the helm outlet down the Starboard side and put a box inside the storage locker. I also ran cable through the engine room with a mount next to the shore power inlet in the back hatch. When no cable dockside was available I used a radio shack rabbit ears antenna that worked pretty well. I also bought a very small vertical mounted DVD (from best buy @$79)and put it in the locker as well. I put only 2 holes in the door for the mounting bracket with rubber pads on the bottom back of the TV in case you slam a few waves. Hope this helped.

Not sure how I missed this one but I had a toshiba 15dlv77 on my 260. Had built in dvd and was also dual voltage. Fit perfectly on top the port cabinets. SB

Has anyone successfully mounted (secured with bracket) a tv above the port cabinets or microwave of their SD?

I would like to do such, but it seems like those shelves are made from particle board or something and the screws will just rip out with any sort of wave action....

I had my 260 out in 5 and 6 footers with the tv up there, no probs at all. I can't tell you how it was mounted though as it was there when I bought it. I believe it was only double sided taped down though as it would move slightly if I tried to rotate it and felt like tape giving if you know what I mean?

I bought a 17" wide screen Notebook computer and can run it from 120VAC (Generator or Shore Power) or a 12VDC auto adapter.

It's a Toshiba I got from Fry's for $549. I put all my manuals (PDF's) and maintenance spreadsheets on there also. Cool thing is I run the stereo headphone output from the Toshiba into the Clarion AUX input and I get a nice stereo audio output through the Clarion speakers.

And it's portable so I can watch movies anywhere onboard!

Also great for listening to music MP3's and downloading pictures from the camera and viewing them! Kids could even play games on the system... 1000 in one uses
