Our flatscreen is mounted to the right, as you step down the stairs into the cabin, opposite the helm.
We were out, and I heard the dreaded:
"Oh no! Come down here and look at what happened!"
Seems the tv, frame, and part of the ceiling was coming down.
I took off the vinyl covered frame and pulled the tv out.
A few things were noticed:
1. Whoever installed the frame around the tv screwed it into a 1x1 above, but totally missed the 1x1!
2. The tv was never bolted into anything, except the frame- which was hanging by a thread.
3. The 1x1 was only itself screwed into the ceiling/piece of plywood without any support beam.
Needless to say, it was only a matter of time before the thing fell.
I am just glad it didn't fall on anyone.
Questions....
Are there any plans/manuals out there that show how this is to be hung?
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to mount the tv with support?
Perhaps bolting it thru the fiberglass (to the wall of the compartment under the helm?
The problem is, the tv does not sit flush against the back... and I dont wanna drill into electronics on the other side, and I dont know if the fiberglass in that area would hold the tv.
Any help is, as usual, greatly appreciated!!!
