I am trying to find a panel to fill the radar area on my dash for my 2000 340 SD. I contacted Marc at Technographic and have not been impressed so far . The guy acts like I am a burden.:smt021 If that is the case then don't do and advertise custom work. Before I throw money at this does anyone else have first hand experience with him? I almost want to posts the email string, but want to hear what others have to say. I know he advertises here and want to be carful, but also am looking for honesty.

No experience with him....
Trace out the line you want....
Go to a sign company.....
Ask for an plastic \ acrylic panel cut....
then cut inner whole to hold display....
leave black or white, paint or vinyl cover exposed piece.....
carbon fibre vinyl looks awesome.....
no problem... slow and steady and you will have an awesome dash assembly.....

I, too, found an ambivalent attitude out of them. Good product, generally on time, but, the attitude needs work.

FP Marine purchased the technology to make the panels and their customer service has always been top notch. If I have to have any additional panels made, I will give FP a try.

Thanks for the encouragement ohsnow. This will be the third season I have contemplated what to do with this. I really want it to appear factory and this guy say he is the OEM but in the same sentence say he does not deal with the cheap plastic on my boat. Then I question that statement and he follows up he's been the supplier since 1998...um my boats a 2000.

He responds with incomplete emails and started out with an obvious template email as the font size was different on what he edited. It just looked so sketchy. If he was complete and competent with his emails answering the questions I had, it would be some much easier. I may call him tomorrow to see if we can talk through it.

This was my last message to him.

My boat is a 2000, so wouldn't it be your panels? Your very impressive with your customer service. I am just trying to make sure I get what I am paying for.

You seem to be the type of person that bites the hand that feeds you and do not look at the opportunity you have in front of you. Must be terrible to have potential customers interested in your product. Seems like an opportunity exists in this market if you are too busy to reply to potential customers and not reply with templates or incomplete replies.

this was in response to this:

I have no time to justify myself of the fact that I am Sea Ray supplier since 1998 of their new dash panels . Just check with them .
Sea ray has chosen my product to replace the low quality they were using before ( your panels ). But like I say I don't work with this type of material . Others do ,and they are cheaper .If they can do what you want you should go with them .

I don't know the whole story, but, in earlier years Sea Ray did use some "inferior" plastic panels from a different supplier that faded and did not have the vibrancy that the Technografic panels have. If you are trying to match some of those older panels then you are probably out of luck, hence the response you got.

I would suggest replacing all of the panels with the newer style so they are made with the newer technology rather than trying to match older panels.

Mine are not faded they look great the boat is a 2000 and just looking to make a nice panel for the spot.

Regarding the panels at FP Marine... I ordered a panel to replace the old radar cut out on my helm. I read the instructions that came with the panel, used the right tools, and as soon as I drilled the first hole the entire back of the panel cracked. I am out $125 and have zilch to show for it. Needless to say, aim not impressed with this stuff.

I will likely contact FP and see what the can do, but I am not hopeful as they clearly state no returns/refunds on this stuff. This is my first bad experience with them.

I have done business with Marc as well. First time I tried, he had the same attitude you speak of along with terrible service. I used another source that time and got a decent panel but did not match.

Again, I decided to use him to order a panel for my friend's 340DA last year. Attitude was a bit better (service much better) and the panel was an exact match. I guess if you want the perfect panel you will have to tolerate the attitude. He is the only one that can do it so not many other options. My advice, hold your nose, order and move on.

I had good luck with them last year on a complete set of panels for my 1996 370 Dancer. The product was amazing, I dealt with a guy name Chris and my experience was positive.

I have dealt with them 3 times. Always perfect product, and professional. I dealt with Charles, I believe he was the owner.

I just found out from Sea Ray that M&G Electronics was the OEM of my panels. Looks like I am onto another route. I am glad that I do not need to deal with Tecno any more. I can't say it was just a bad day for Marc, because even after my last message I asked if I could call him. Asked for a number and a time to call as I think we are making this more difficult than it is over email and he followed up with another crappy response. He also suggested M&G Electronics, but I confirmed it with Sea Ray. I have to say Sea Ray has one of the best customer service I have ever experienced. Makes me proud to own one.

Another +++++ for FP marine. Had same experience with Technographics.... infact, 2 others in our marina were also offput with their attitude. My money is better spent elsewhere. FP marine did an AWESOME job on our replacement panels.

Just an FYI M&G does not do custom work or have the same material any longer.

I contacted FPMarine to have a custom panel made and order a few odds and ends.

Communication was impeccable, the price was way less than I expected and the finished product came out exactly how I wanted.

He forgot to fulfill some of the special requests I made on the odds and ends. He sent replacements and paid for the shipping too.

I couldn't have asked for more.
