hi fellow 240 SRV owners....would you know if the teak can be taken off the bow to be re finished or does it need to be done while still on the boat? i see the screws but is it safe to take them out and put back without leaking...i neverhave good luck with that stufff....
Thanks

Where ever possible, take the teak off and refinish it off of the boat.

Considering that teak may have been on there for quite a while and may not have had the screw holes re-sealed recently, it would be a good idea to take it off so you could use some fresh silicone.

I took them off when I refinished. As others have said, those screws are probably due to be re-bedded anyway. That goes for all the teak on the boat, I found it a lot easier to work with in the shop.

The PO of our 240 stripped her prior to a repaint with Imron. He put back all new hardware but he used bolts that protruded into the cabin by about 1" and never cut them off.

I assume the teal bow polpit is just screwed in an not bolted? Everywhere the bolts go through, cleats, railing, etc, theres a big hole in the monkey fur where they stuck through to get the nuts on...

ok silly question, when how do i " re-bed " them? and someone mentioned silicone.....
also i was away from the boat for a week and when i went back the was abit of a leak from one of the screws in the "monkey fur" port side right where the windscreen is attached...is this normal does it just need to be sealed somehow? the water dripped onto the sink area below but didnt seem to spread at all in the monkey fur.....

re-bed with silicone is the same thing as sealing. No rocket science here, just put silicone anywhere there's a hole or crack that goes through the fiberglass.
