I just ordered the Taylor Marine "Fastback" canvas for my 2007 320. Taylor told me they just finished the templates and delivered the first of these with the soft top option on a 2006 320 to a Sea Ray owner in Florida.

I'm curious how the fastback looks connected to the soft top and was hoping the owner of the Florida boat might be a member of CSR. If you're out there and can post a picture and your experience so far, I'd appreciate it. We are looking forward to having more useable space in our cockpit on the many rainy, cold summer evenings we have here on Lake Ontario!

I've seen pictures of them on other boats and they look great.
I wish they made one for my boat.

I think they look a bit goofy but it sure is easier than dealing with custom canvas people.

Thanks Rob! Thought I would ask before messaging you -- does the 300 have a soft top?

My dock neighbor has a 310 with the Fastback so I am familiar with how it attaches and looks with a standard bimini. I'm really interested in seeing it with the Sea Ray soft top option.

Rick,

I didn't know Taylor made one for the 310. Any more info on that? Are you sure it is a Taylor? I would love to get one for ours...

They will make it for any boat. If they dont have a template they will make one...

The 300 is the old style ... So u know the look... did u look at fastbacks website... They dont update often though... .

4Schrecks - they definately make one for the 310. My neighbor loves his and sold me on the idea. Check out the Taylor Marine website as they have a chart with available models and years.

Rob - I asked Taylor if they had any pictures with the soft top and they don't yet. Apparently, this is a brand new template and they just delivered the first one. I'm not all that nervous as they described it pretty well to me and bottom line - we very much want to make our cockpit more useable and I don't want a custom job that involves permanent stanchions and the like.

Taylor offers a 30 day money back guarantee if it does not fit. I'm just being impatient and thought I'd check here to see if the one other 320 owner that has this was a member!

Thanks for the thoughts.

Rick,
FYI the install requires u to drill into the fiberglass behind the stern seat. U also have to rivet to the aluminum bimini. For two years they replaced the support poles. They have changed the design a few times... My fast back dates 2002 or 01 something like that. Awesome customer serivce.

Rob

PS Measure... measure,,,, measure... then drill ... : )

I have the soft top and factory fast back - must be different than Taylor? Looks fine, with the soft top extending aft a little more gives a little more head room to the aft lounger. Attaching on mine - 2 side curtains that have "slide stlye gasket or cording material mounts" onto the arch, zipped at the top up to the soft top corner and carry to the rear lower corners . They kind of pick up boat geometry so the aft curtain has a cleaner attachment. Then the curtain attaches (zippers) at the top and each side curtain - drapes rearward and bungies accross the stearn. All plastic glass at the front? Nice package overall - easy up and down. I didn't plan the soft top upgrade - but love it! We are still debating camper top. Maybe next season. PS - no drilling to frame is visible on this factory set-up.

I have a 320 also, please post pictures when you get them, looking for that add-on also... expensive ??

Thanks again Rob. Why did they replace your support poles? Did they break?

rbihn2 - you and I have the same setup from the factory. The Taylor Marine Fastback is more of what you might describe as a "camper" top that extends the useable space in the cockpit to include the rear seat.

I will post pictures when I get it installed. Delivery is not expected until mid-July.

Debtstar,
BAck in the day the fast back was relatively new... The poles in question are pretty long ( stretch from the transom to bimni. They take abuse... The version i had didnt hold up, they replaced them with the same. Then they came out with a pole that broke down into 3 sections . was sturdier... they sent those to me no charge with out even a request. Only modification i had to make was the bottom of the fast back is velco . So they give u velcro snaps to align with ur existing cockpit snaps. Once i gotthe pattern down I installed snaps tru the canvas.

A quick update. After waiting for 6 weeks I finally received my Taylor Marine Fastback. Unfortunately it was the wrong template and does not fit my boat. The one they sent was for an 04-05 with the regular bimini which is not even close. After talking to Taylor and sending them pictures of my "soft top," they have determined that they in fact do not have a template for my boat!

Wow...that sux....sounds like my luck!

I've not seen where they offer it for the '05 320 either. Surely there are other suppliers that offer an alternate caming enclosure. I've seen pictures of the squared off ones. Not as bulging as the FastBack.

Anyone know of any other products that are out there????

Not hijacking DebtStar, looking for alternatives to the Taylor made one.
