Hi.... anyone boat in Tawas Mi. area just looking for general info and a good marina for 4 nights. Any fireworks in area July 4th?...thanks, for any info..... Tm

I have stayed in Tawas many times over many years. There is a State dock in East Tawas (which is the main town). The marina is very nice, large, and the dock is right at the base of main street so everything you need is in walking distance. I do believe that they have fireworks for July 4th, but who knows in this economy what is getting cut.

I grew up in East Tawas... That's where the state dock is. It's at the end of the "main drag" Newman Street. I used to keep my Hobie Cat on the beach there by the state dock. My father kept his boat out by the lighthouse on Tawas Point at Jerry's Marina. The nice beaches were out on the point by the state park that used to be out there... That was a long time ago... My parents owned a restaurant down on the second block just past Klenow's grocery (on the corner) and I believe it's still there (so I saw on the Internet). The town used to only have about 2000 people... I doubt it's changed.

Now... there was a hottie I had a crush on over at the car dealer across the street from our restaurant... I think it was a Pontiac dealer called "William Look and Sons"... probably got axed though... Her father owned the dealership...

My wife and I were married in Tawas City. I was stationed at a small AFB in Oscoda. I believe it is now closed, Wurtsmith AFB. Don't know a damn thing about marinas in Tawas...
