A different thread where a fellow is having problems filling his water tank and suspects air venting problems has reminded me of something I witnessed 2 years ago.
A transient boater stopped for the night at our marina. The first thing he did was go to the fuel dock. The dock girl was fueling his boat, she couldn't get gas to go into either tank. The transient got very lippy with her, blaming her and the marinas faulty equipment. It got to the point the girl was upset, near tears. A 'dock guy' had to replace her and lay the law down so to speak, there'd be no more hollerin', bitchin', and cussin' or he'd have to move on.
To make a long story short....it was a pretty new SeaRay with the carbon canisters in the fuel tank vent lines. The carbon canisters had accumulated enough water to stop the venting. Each canister was removed and drained, the tanks then took fuel normally.
Once this problem was found/resolved the owner made some other observations. He said the last couple hrs or so as he was cruising across the lake, that his boat was not running correctly, fluctuating rpm, sluggish.
