Tampa Bay weeks cruise, need suggestions

Hey folks, I've got a week off in August and am looking for suggestions for places to go around Tampa bay and south. I like anchoring but plan on some marina stops too. Would consider Useppa Is and Cabbage Key too.

We'll probably start at twin dolphins marina up the manatee river and then on to the north end of Longboat key anchoring off the Mar Vista Restaurant. After that who knows, suggestions??

Cabbage Key is a great place to go. From there you can go to Cayo Costa, Little Gasparilla, Seven Seas Plantation, Tween Waters, go to Miller's Marine, rent a golf cart and cruise around the island. Heading south there is so much to do I don't think you will get bored.

As you head South if you go inland from Sarasota to Venice their is a nice little old Florida style restaurant called Casey Key Fish House (just past the swinging bridge) that has great grouper sandwiches.

Pelican bay in Cayo Costa State Park (South end of Charlotte Harbor) is a nice place to anchor out.

We spent a few days at Tween Waters marina in Captive last month and really enjoyed it (about 90 miles from twin dolphin).

Thanks guys, I've been to all those places. My favorite is Tween Waters for marinas with Twin Dolphins second. My absolute favorite anchorage is Pelican Bay. We've rented the golf carts on Gasparilla several times, but right now it's really dead- off season. I was just down in the Pine Is sound area last May and am looking for some neat places closer to home.

We may just stay in the local area venturing to the Vinoy basin and Tiera Ciea Bay area if I can find some good restaurants in the area. Ft Desoto up the Manatee is a nice anchorage too. We'll take our bikes and may anchor at Moores and bike to St Armands circle.

If you anchor in the Vinoy Basin then you are within walking distance to many upscale (but afffordable) restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Downtown St. Pete has come a long way in the last few years.
