On my 98 290da it seems my tachs are out of sync with my sync how can you test to see where the problem is?
One engine may be at 3000 rpm and the other at 2700 but the sync says they are the same ??

I am not an expert on these things but I have been told to go by the syncronizer and not the tacks. Apparently the tacks can read different due in part to how balanced your props are - they may have a slightly different pitch.

Go by the sync gauge. Remove the tachs and turn the screw on the back that changes the tach from 4, 6, or 8 cylinders back and forth a few times. Set back to the original position and they should be better. Other than that, a loose ground is about all that usually goes wrong with the tachs.
