Just had a great day on my new to me 1997 230BR. Previous owner said that the dial on the Tach was turned slightly. I took a picture of it for everyone here.

Any ideas on how to turn it back? Is it the inside dial that has turned or is there some simple fix that I am not seeing?

Thanks for your help.

So I was on the boat and took a closer look from behind the helm. The dial inside the tach has moved. I did take the tach out of the dash and tried to figure out how but no joy. If you look at the picture above, I was in neutral at idle. If the dial was in the correct place then the rpms would read correct.

Anyone experience this? I think I need a new tach.

Did you look for a selector switch on the back of the tach there is a 4-6-8 position switch change it to 8 cylinders that will make rpms show correctly.

Sfergson727 - Thank you for the offer but the two are not compatible.

Bob & Sue - everything is set as it should be. The dial inside the gauge has rotated. I cannot adjust this nor can I see the hour meter on the gauge. Thanks for your input.

If you find you need to replace, this one should work for your year boat since I believe it is prior to the "GEN2" gauges. Make sure it looks like exactly the same connections before ordering. This is a long discontinued Sea Ray item so doubtful they can get it for you. Make sure you document the hours on the old meter when you change it because you will start over.

Edit- I just noticed they advertise it will replace Sea Ray #883363 you mentioned in an earlier post.

Thanks. I found that on the net too and inquired about purchasing. I am in Canada and they want $50 to ship it via Fedex. I asked if they would ship using USPS and they said no. I am sure they are getting kickbacks from FedEx.

Anyone in central Florida want to purchase and ship it up in a more economical way? PM if able.

It looks like just the face panel inside has slipped from the base. Too bad, as If you could get the bezel off maybe you could reset it? A little heat perhaps?

That was the first thing I tried. It is crimped on. I would bend the heck out if it. The speedo shops were going to charge me the same as a new unit.

Do you still have the 95297F Tach? I'm willing to pay for the tach and shipping to Europe. I ordered 2 new replacement tach's from a dealer in Cape Coral and they do not work.
The shipping will be to Ramstein Air Base in Germany. Thanks in advance

+1. Cannot see the hour meter. Looks to be a Faria. If so, call and and see what they can do.

I think my gauges are the same type. When I bought my boat 8yrs ago, I found that the gauge lenses had been fogging up and then dried, leaving water marks on the inside of the glass. I was able to pry the trim rings off from the back side with a small slot screwdriver, some blood, and plenty of superlatives… This allowed me to get the lenses off and clean them, but in your case it might allow you to reset the face and secure it in place with crazy glue or something of that nature. Putting the trim rings back on the face involved losing the little gasket between the ring and the glass, but I've never had any more issues with fogging. The lenses are not as tight as before, but they aren't air-tight anyway.

Hope this helps.

If if you are shipping to an "APO" address (or today's equal) the shipping is the same as within the US. Very reasonable and no taxes. Many companies have APO/FPO shipping as an option in their sites.
