Hi All
I have a 2002 185S BR 4.3MPI (120 hrs on the clock). The tacho was working fine all last season, up to the point I was taking it out of the water for the winter. The rev counter would just jump all over the place and would not show the right revs for the engine state. I posted previously and a lot of people suggested I flick the 4/6/8 switch on the back a couple of times as the contacts get dirty and cause the issue mentioned.
I did the fix and hey presto it worked, but as soon as I took the srewdriver out of the switch nothing. Put screwdriver back in to try again and as soon as pressure was applied to the selector it worked. Found out that by just pressing my finger against the switch when in the 6 position it works fine. Now I know this is a fix, but holding my finger there whilst under way is not ideal !!!
Does anyone know what the problem is? could it be that there is a spring behind there that provides tension and has broken, jumped off it's track and can it be fixed or do you think I need to bite the bullett and buy a new one.
Do you know who makes them and where I could could get another one - based in UK
Your thoughts/suggestions would be most welcome.
Current fix is to clamp some wood over the selector to provide pressure, but I would rather it worked properly.
Thanks
