For some reason every now and then my Tach will stop working? I will be out on the water and it will start to go up and then stop, then maybe the next time I take the boat out it will all of a sudden start working?

As for the speedometer it gets to about 15 and does not move past that point, im not sure it even reads any of the slower speeds?

Any ideas to check for?

There is a small switch on the back of the tach that allows it to be set for a 4, 6, or 8 cylinder engine. They are notorious for corroding. Move it through it's range 20 times to see if that helps. Just make sure you get it back to the correct position.

Most speedos work off water pressure, hence that don't register till you get going fast enough to build pressure. There is a small hole on the bottom of the drive that may be corroded or partially stopped up. Use a small drill bit by hand to clean it. Many people have cut the line inside the boat and used air pressure to blow out the drive. You can use a small plastic connector from a parts house to splice the line back together or you may be able to remove it from the back of the speedo and blow from there.

I cleaned out my speedo tube and Bravo1 leg and it finally cleared out but.....now it goes up but does not go back to "0" for a while after the ride? I have my Garmin 531s installed so it's not a big deal but it's funny it goes up but not down for a while!...Mike.

Mike, you've still got some type of restriction. Try blowing with a compressor from the inside out to clear the clog. Might take several tries.

Thanks for the info, I will try the switch on the back of the Tach and maybe this weekend pull the boat from the water and look at the hole on the bottom of the drive.

Not sure if I should add to this thread or start a new one but hoping I can get some feedback here. I have a SD 220 and the speedometer worked fine. Now it doesn't work. I just pulled the boat out of the water and thought there was a probe that hung off the back but I can't find any type of line/cable tubing nor a mount so it makes me think I saw it on someone else's boat. I do see comments about a hole possibly being blocked. I guess this means Searay usually has the speedometer intake (?) on the stern drive. Can you point me to where this may be and I can try and free up the clog if that is the problem. Thanks!

You'll find a small hole (1/8" or less) on the leading edge of the lower case of the drive. Just run your finger along the leading edge and you'll find it. It is the only hole on the leading edge, while water intakes are on the sides. Just clean it out making sure you don't push gunk into the line, and if you do, you'll need to blow out from dash (remove hose from speedo and blow there). I'd be really careful with a compressor though, as you don't want to rupture the line.
