I recently purchased a 2006 260 DA and had it on the water for the first time yesterday....loved it! I was trying to convert the forward dining area to a v berth. I was able to lift the table and post out of the mounting hole but could not figure out how to disconnect the post from the table to allow me to slide the table top into the v berth area to support the additional berth cushions. Is there a "trick" i'm missing here? Any advise would be helpful. Thanks.

Nope-just twist and pull. Never had this problem, but a little light oil may help along with some light tapping from a mallet.

It is just a pressure fit.

They get stuck once in a while. Just flip the table over, and wiggle and pull on the post. It will come out. Make sure to put your hand over the top of the post so you don't whap yourself in the kisser when it comes loose.

Yup - they get stuck, especially if it hasn't been disassembled in a while or if it was slipped in dirty. The most important thing is what Bum said - don't keep your face right over the pole. Or, if you do, please have someone record the process and then show us the video :smt001 Another way to go about it is to apply upward pressure on the pole (table is upside down) and give the side of the pole a couple firm whacks with the side of your hand.

Thanks to all for the input. I assumed it was a pressure fit, but wanted to confirm. I'll have my wife run video just in case...:smt001

When you do finally get the v-berth setup here is a trick I learned along the way. I always liked to used some of the non-slip material available for carpets etc (usually comes in rolls) for under the filler cushions. It will help keep those cushions in place while your sleeping.

+1 on the hand over post. In my case, it was a black eye and bleeding form the eyebrow....not to mention the entire summer of harassment from my dock neighbors!
