A friend of mine just purchased a 2005 420DA with Cummins 450's. On his way to Bimini last weekend the Systems Monitor went into alarm and it would not clear. I had him open the breaker and reset it to see if that would solve the problem. It didn't but he did get a communications failure message. The coax cable is good so I'm not sure if the problem is with the monitor or the processor. Any ideas on how to check each?

You can refer to the attached picture which suggests a few troubleshooting ideas and potential fixes. Based on what you describe, it does sound like a problem in either the coax cable , coax connection at either end, or the interface module(down in bilge) itself as opposed to the Systems Monitor display.

Thanks, Tom, I'll pass this along. Sounds to me like it's the unit in the engine room. I wonder if reman units are available?
