So last season my systems monitor starting acting a little nuts and kept giving off some false alarms and staying lit up. Not to mention that I can't stand the cover plate Sea Ray used.

I Tom it apart last week to see what was going on. This is what I found

As you can see from the pictures (if you look close)!the board is showing signs of corrosion. I did a search on CSR and found a guy that was repairing the boards. Well turns out he retired several years ago. None of the young kids know or care to know how to repair these boards. To old school for them...

I have a guy here in Franklin that is a retired electrical engineer that restores old juke boxes and builds sound equipment for several studios here in Nashville. I took him the board to see what he could do. He asked me if I wanted him to make a complete new board for it or just fix what I had. He called me yesterday and said he was able to save the board and replace a few parts a pieces and should have it back to me by Friday.

If this works out and he fixes it, I will post all his information for you guys that need one repaired. Great older guy that works part time at Walmart as a greeter (my dream job) and works on electronics in his little apartment while he takes care of his sick wife.

As for the Ugly Face Plate....I called my Buddy Ken at Flounder Pounder and asked him if he could laser cut me one out of the burl wood material he did all my dash panels out of. I sent him the original and tomorrow I should receive the new one. I will post pictures of it when I get it. This guy can laser cut anything he has a template for.

Steve,

That is awesome!! Did you remove the other "control box" behind the dash too? I have the same crappy looking monitor system. The problem with mine is that it is the "Potted" style and therefore the electronics are not accessable. Do you think that there is anything this fellow can do with it as in -design a new board? The people at Logic Level Technologies, Inc declined. Good luck and as always, I look forward to seeing your finished product!

I have a feeling the drunken Englishman that owned the boat before me passed out and dropped his straight up whiskey on the dash. You wouldn't believe some of the stuff we found on the boat when we gutted it. Hand cuffs under mattresses, hate letters from his now ex wife and bottle after empty bottle of whiskey.

I don't see any other signs of moisture past or present under the dash.

I got the face plate in the mail today and as usual very impressed with Ken at Flounder Pounder. Turned it around in a few days and it looks great. The guy even thinks to send me all new screws for the new face plate. I didn't even think of that.

is "Bilge Heat Detect" just a sensor & alarm or does it have a fan tied into it if it reaches a certain temp set point?

Steve,
Thanks - that's great to know what FP can do...Looks great.

FP bought Scott's (Vectorled) equipment when he went over the edge. Before that time he apparently made excellent products. It is nice to see that FP was able to continue the quality while adding much greater reliability.

STEVE,

I don't know if you missed my first inquiry but, do you think the engineer friend of yours could do something with "Potted Boards"? I would love to get new boards made for my system. Currently it is totally non-functional which has caused me great concern. Any help here would be appreciated. This is what mine looks like:

Thanks,

Can you send me a picture of the inside of the Pod? I will be seeing him tomorrow morning and I can even have him give you a call. He has fixed ECM's for other friends of mine boats. He even built a complete ECM for a friend that bought a boat that sunk.

Steve

Hey guys,

Before Scott went over the edge (too bad), he made my dash and it is nice.

One thing we did when making the system monitor part, was to not burn/cut the red LED holes all the way through the material.
Leaving the LED lights below the surface.
Only the test switch hole is cut through making the system almost waterproof.

I have pics somewhere on this board but, it looks slick and works better than original.

I sure FPMarine could do it..
:)

Here you go Steve,

I wish that there was a schematic available because this is basically useless. I think he would need one that wasn't potted to build off of. I don't care about the boat shape either. If I could just get some labeled lights and a buzzer that would be perfect.

One more thing,
I think that there is a way to convert to an LCD display but I was told that the cost would be in the 2-3k range which is ridiculous!! There is also a second component under the dash with similar potting on it that is part of this system.

Here's a bigger pic of the front:

Ok great. I am going to meet him this morning. I will show him the pictures and if you want to call me after 10 central time I will be with him and you can talk directly with him. My number is 615-772-6526

He said that he has mine done and wants to install it. We are doing my LED lights behind my dash today and a few other things.

Steve

Steve,

Thanks Steve!
I'll try to call but I am at Montauk with my family and will be at the parade at that time.

Thanks Pete. I will give it a look. We did get the systems monitor hooked up this weekend and all went great . The only thing that is not working is the heat sensor. Not really sure how to test the sensor or even locate it for that matter.

Steve, Mine came with the same thing Todd has. The PO removed it to install floscans (it was probably broken). I have been looking for a replacement or wiring schematic for 3 years now, so I am interested to see if you were able to get one reproduced. If the guy that repaired yours has a wiring diagram for the monitor that Todd has, I would be interested to see it. I have yet to find any usable info on these panels. You would think as many as were installed, someone would be curious enough to find the original wiring. Since it was a replacement only part, I guess there wasn't alot of info floating around.

I'll join the annoying systems monitor club. My port engine temp alarm goes off for no reason and since there is no buzzer silence function I wind up with everyone complaining and blocking their ears. I disconnected it. It's the potted version from mid 90s and unrepairable - I am quite competent to repair almost anything to component level but the potting foils that ability.

I too hate the ugly display panel and was thinking of making a simple data acquisition system as I really don't like having the alarms disconnected but as always time is in short supply. I keep looking for solutions, if I find something I will link to it in here.

I truly hate to "pile on" but..... I have a '97 500 DA that has the same monitor/panel noted at the top of this thread. When I bought the craft my tech said that there appeared to be a historical hydraulic leak underneath the dash/wheel that may have shorted out the terminal module. Finding this part has been impossible. Anyone out there in CSR world have any ideas? Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
