Synthetic faux teak decking alternatives?

I like the idea of doing this as a DIY project. Two questions though. 1. How bad does it mess up the deck below when you eventually have to remove it? 2. I already have snaps in the deck from the carpet, could you install snaps on the foam instead of using the glued backing?

Thanks

I use snaps for my Infinity. It's basically carpet. You can buy it without a foam backing and glue it down.
Some makers of the faux teak have a peel and stick adhesive applied. That is much easier to remove than applying a viscous glue or cement. Although it may not stick as well to a textured deck. The glue would be very time consuming and labor intensive to remove to original condition.

Another point of reference on the eBay foam - it's about $40 a roll currently. You should be able to do most platforms with two rolls, three max. I did my upper and lower with three rolls with half a roll left over and a handful of mis-cuts/scrap. The entire cockpit...maybe 5 or 6 rolls? Still in the sub $300 range.

The SeaDek is awesome. $800 installed.

The problem with the cheap stuff is the edges aren’t finished. Has anyone come up with a creative solution for this?
