Switching port and starboard battery cables

I want to switch my battery cables from the port and starboard battery banks. Should i remove the positive cables on both batteries first before removing the negative cables or one battery at a time? Also, when reattaching them should i start with the negative first? I'm doing this because my house battery is not holding a charge and i want to finish out the season before buying two new batteries. Sorry if this sounds stupid, but not very experienced with battery current. Thanks
