So when I bought our 2001 340 I knew the swim platform had some issues that I would like to address at some time. The top you can tell has some separation to the inner structure. At this time the platform still feels solid . Now I'm no interested in a giant platform the stock size is fine. With this said would you just install an after market or repair it.

Repair is probably cheapest and easiest. If it’s not too bad, you can probably leave it attached the the boat. Cut off the to, replace the core, fiberglass and gel coat the top. Then probably cover with the eva foam decking to “cover up“ the work.

I took mine off and made it into a winter project. Removed the fiberglass skin from the underside, removed all the rotten coring, replaced it with coosa board, reglassed and just white bilge paint to repaint underside since nobody will ever see it.

mine was wet on the sides, likely water intrusion from the rubrail?

Surveyor suggested injecting GORILLA GLUE.

2 years later that swim platform is still hard as a rock.

I'll see if I can find the link to my original post.

I would repair, if possible. I don't know what's wrong with it based on the info in this thread, though. Repair from the bottom is easier.

If memory serves, the platform on the 340DA is a simpler platform without a true rubrail ... and I don't believe the sides are cored. Can you verify? From the bottom of the platform, you may be able to see where the coring is.

From the top is still a relatively easy job - it's matching the gelcoat and non-skid that becomes the challenge. In that case, though, you could go with paint - possibly a contrasting color. Or match the color and add in your own nonskid with, for example, Soft sand. I'm not sure if you have the pebble nonskid (easier) or diamond pattern?

Or cover the area with Plasdeck, SeaDek or something similar.

Penetrating epoxy would be another alternative but you would have to do that hole pattern RWS did on his boat from the top and then figure out how to cover it.

Covering it not a problem.

This swim platform had two large holes and depressions ON THE TOP from an enormous NICK JACKSON electric dinghy lift the PO installed 20 some years ago.

I did all that fiberglass & refinishing work myself, then painted the entire swim platform with Injterlux YACHT PERFECTION with a non-slip grit included.

Looks great, easy to clean and is extremely tough.

I used ARCTIC WHITE and it's a bit too white to match the boat, will recoat someday to get the color right.

Zoom in and you'll see the water beading up on the surface.
