swim platform option add ons for older boats

I got a quote from them immediately early this year.

All in it was $4049.00.

Nice platform and something I really want to do but yikes.

I think this is what
Very nice. Came out great. I noticed the molding on the last boat is separating.
Yes, it's just a rubber strip that finishes the edge of the fiberglass. It can be white or black and it looks like they need to reattach it, maybe with some adhesive.

I wonder if they do not have a mold for yours yet, because that's a lot higher than mine and it would end up pretty similar in size and shape. I'm just under $3k.

Actually I was very surprised to hear that they did have a mold for my rather odd, older model.

I was sent photos of installed platforms on boats just like mine.

I have to attribute the cost to my 14’ beam. The cost of the platform itself wasn’t so bad but the accumulated shipping and crating charges put it a bit out of reach for the moment.

We put a swimplatform on our 250. Except for fastening the bolts it was something I was able to do by myself. Fit snugly and was about $2K in 1998 or so. Highly recommended addition to the boat. We thoroughly enjoyed ours. Swimplatforms.com

Yeah, that extra width definitely carries over into the cost of the crate and shipping. Makes sense it'd be a little more. They said about a half day to install with 2 people, so figure 8 hours of labor, which will push yours to $5k, plus your round trip out of the water, which here would be another $1k.

The issue I have with their versions for the 80's boats is the relatively modern oval vents. The shape of the platform itself is great, as is the hidden ladder, but the ovals kill it for me with the look of these older 80's boats. Way too modern looking. The version for mine has 5 of them and they don't look right in context of the rest of the boat's design. I understand the front berth widows in the hull are oval, but they're a little more angular, as is the rest of the boat. Since the company has invested in a mold, they can't do different vent shapes, so I'm pretty on the fence about using their platform.

I asked a local yard what it would cost to fab a similar platform. I want similar width, but 42" or 46" long instead of 39" and potentially with several updated teak grates, maybe like this type of shower grate, to keep a bit of the original look to it. We'll see how unreasonable the estimate is, ha.

Oh, look, they actually have inserts for the original swim step:

I like those grates. I replaced my originals with Plasteak that a friend cut on a CNC. It’s great stuff. Zero maintenance.

The quote I got for the platform alone was about 3 grand. The crating and fright was a PITA though.

In the pic I posted the size of the rear anchor locker concerns me a lot and that’s a feature I’m hot for as well as the built in ladder.

I’d be doing the installation myself in the spring before the splash so there’d be no ancillary costs.

We’ll see.

I received the quote from Paul at swimplatforms.com.
"Our Sea Ray 350 Express Cruiser & 350 Sundancer Swim Platform package is $2675.00.
This includes all stainless steel mounting hardware, 4 step ladder, oval ports, rubber molding and installation guidelines.
Shipping Quote:
(This is a separate quote from the platform package pricing.)
Wood shipping crate and packing materials total $150.00.
The current freight (FOB Phoenix, AZ) to a commercial address at zip code 30152 is $446.00"
So. $3271
Haul out fee at my Marina $440
Installation by Marina 5 hours X 2 men ($1000)
Grand total $4711 Ouch
I will most likely put the order in next week. I have no choice. It's been on our bucket list since original purchase. I might go ahead and have marina change out seacocks and rudder seals. Thanks all

I was hopeful platform manufactures were in my area to locally pick up. Seems the best ones are out west driving up the cost for us in the east. Not their fault and manufacturing pricing not bad. I'm going for it anyway.
Edit: Attached image should be of similar install to ours.

I think for your boat's overall design/shape, that is a fine looking step, even with the modern oval vents. Mine is much more angular and is tougher to match.

Good luck with the step and install. I don't think you can go wrong there. It's going to be a huge upgrade.

Thanks. I'm on the schedule. Due to the incredible boating season; our Marina is still reporting 8 weeks out. Unbelievable. I'm in Georgia too. I would expect that to be the case in Florida but not here. Oh well. It will give swimplatforms.com "Plenty Of Time" :)

I ordered the swim platform LED light add on. My wife is worried about the size of the steps. Our current ladder has 3" wood steps which are very gentle on the feet. Anyone have any pictures of the 4 step 45 degree ladder for swimplatforms.com?
