my 1996 searay sundancer 370 had routed out wood inside the swim platform thus, i removed it to repair it but realized my boat is plaining much easter and the back support of my swim platform was slowing the speed of my boat as rushing water was hitting the 3" lip support at back.

while the hight of swim platform is not too low, as i am trying to plain the wave generated is being blocked by the 3" lip.

what is your suggestion? one thought i had was to use a 2" honeycomb to fill the gap, so no lip left, but now my swim platform will act like a fin/ trim tab.

there is also the matter of the angle. bottom of the swim platform to water and perhaps i need to put a second honeycomb to smooth the angle.

any suggestion is appreciated

shall i move this to 370 chat location you mentioned? it is the original swim platform. drilled holes for zodiac and swim leather caused the engineered wood to route out and I pulled it out, that is when i discover my boat is much faster at plaining out of water super fast and noticed my propellers are generating a big wave that lifts up 4-5 inches prior to where end of my swim platform would be. the only thing that is not original is i have a bit faster propellers, 19 pitch to 21 or reverse (the one for speed not tork)

When I was having my boat recommissioned after shipping her across the country I had the boat yard build a new swim platform. The old one had a davit on it and I had no use for the davit. I traded the davit for the cost of the new platform.

When we put it all together we found the swim platform dug in when trying to get up on plane. It was too long (fore to aft) and the lip at the aft end dug into the water.

The solution we came up with was to add a hull extension that essentially moved the prop rooster tail about 18" aft so it came up behind the lip. Worked like a champ until one day on the Columbia River I got into some VERY tall and short duration waves.

The swim platform dug in and it cracked, leaving it flopping at the stern. Several of us got together and removed the old SWP.

Then I had a local fiberglass guy build a new platform WHILE THE BOAT WAS IN THE WATER. It's solid as hell and looks like a factory original.

He built into the platform four "air valves" to allow any water pressure beneath the platform to escape and also installed two pop-up cleats.

He even put on a very nice rub rail that dressed it up a lot and protects it from bumps and bruises.

Welcome to the forum, I don’t have much to offer on your situation. However, I met a Tolga once on a key west poker run, might that have been you?

thank you
