Swim platform chocks

Attached is a pic of the chocks that came with the swim platform. We have two questions.
How are they locked in position, do the holes on end have a function?
They are very difficult to slide on, any fix?

best shot I had.
There is a bolt, washer and nut that go back there.
Mine were also a b*tch to get out of the tracks. I bought the quick chocks from @Morgan Jane who is a sponsor/advertiser of the site.
They work great and I no longer stub my toes or smash my ankles on those chocks.

Yes, don't even worry about the old way of attaching them check out the thread above and install and removing them will be a snap.
