HI All!
I am sure that many of you may have heard of, or participated in the Annual Swim Across the Sound event. If you haven't, the next event is August 6th, and they are always looking for more boat captains! The Swim helps to raise funds for cancer screenings, prevention and education. It is a great event and while last year was the first year I participated as a boat captain, I have participated for years as a Medic. It is a great day on the water for a good cause.
Are any of you participating? It would be nice for CSR to have a good showing. If you aren't participating but might be interested, check out https://give.stvincents.org/page.aspx?pid=651&srctid=1&erid=76645
I will be there, along with a friend who is a fellow CSR member. One of the things I learned last year is it helps to have another captain as it is a long day and trying to keep track of swimmers, gps, current, radio traffic, and other boats is best accomplished by two.
I am sure there are others on here who have participated, but I am happy to answer any questions as best I can. I will also make a list on this post of all CSR members attending. (get together before/afterwards anyone?) Last year they provided us all with a spot at Danfords on Friday as it was a bright and early start on Saturday.
