Swapping out old batteries

I own a 1997 420 Aft and I'm in the process of changing out the old batteries for new. Is there a trick to this endeavor or is it just using armstrong technology. A little help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

As well as turning off your charge/converter! I helped a buddy replace his batteries and I tied a line to the handles to lower them down to him.

Yes boater 420, replaced 5, (you read it right, five) of them ungodly heavy beasts in a hole so small rates would have a tough time getting into. Band aids, yup, I'm sure there is a shortage for them in the mid Atlantic states. Thanks for the response!!
