I'm hoping someone has a good reference for a surveyor in the Marblehead / Port Clinton Ohio area.

I am looking to purchase a 31' flybridge. I need a structural survey and I'm contemplating a mechanical as well.

Thanks in advance.

I have not used Greg Group but I know he has a very good reputation in the Port Clinton area. If you need additional options call Paul at Catawba Moorings in Port Clinton.

Thanks guys. I'll start with Greg. My local guy forgot how to answer the phone unfortunately.

I'm getting an unexpected range in pricing. I've seen from $17 to almost $30 per foot for a structural survey. No mechanicals. What does everyone else pay?

Any references for a mechanic that may be able to perform a mechanical inspection? I would like to at least check compression. I would have no problem doing this myself but I would prefer a third party just for liability.

We used Gregory Group also. Good guy and seems to very thorough. Used Dubberts Professional Outdrive for mechanicals. They were good to deal with also.

X2 on Group. He's surveyed 2 of my boats thus far. Knows Sea Rays well.

Greg is on the upper end of the price spectrum, but at least he will answer the phone. I spoke with Duberts as well. Sounds like good people there too.

It simply amazes me how many of my phone calls have gone unanswered.

There's been a bit of a twist.

There is a local surveyor I've used in the past with good results. We had a conversation just to get the ball rolling before I made the offer. I followed up and left a message a couple days later that my offer was accepted and I wanted to go ahead. I asked him to call me back... Nothing. I figured it was Easter weekend, I would give him a break. Then all day Monday, nothing.

I spoke with Greg and planned to have him survey until I get a phone call from the original guy. He says he is at the marina. Where is the boat?

I'm not sure why he never returned my calls but there he is. In Ohio.

In my conversation with Greg he was pretty impressive. I was planning to have him do the survey...

Thank you all for the recommendations.

+1 For Greg Group! He did an amazing survey on my 2001 400 Sedan Bridge and we were extremely impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. He went through every system thoroughly and answered any questions we had. I would use nobody but him, would every penny (plus some)!
